I have not gone to Elko on the flights and it has been about five
years since I was there but I can provide some info from back then.
There were only about four casinos with table games, two had dice, in
town then. I suspect there may be more today but they would surely
be small. The largest casino is the Red Lion and they were the
sponsor of the flights. The bus from the airport took you there.
First, a FWIW impression. Based on four visits to the Elko RL, it
struck me as the coldest casino I've ever seen. I do not cite any
specific incidents, it was just the sense I had.
Back then, I heard the trips were free. You had to show $350 front
money from Seattle. I don't know if it varied by distance from
Elko. (One reason that free may have come to an end is that I heard
that some people were going for the trip and not playing at all.)
The junketeers were issued numbered badges and wearing them while
playing was enforced. I found that out while sitting at a BJ table.
I was asked three or four times for my badge. When I said I was a
walkin, each pit critter looked startled and said, "Oh, we're glad
you are here"--or some such. I spoke at one table with two brothers
from somewhere in MT and their story sounded unpleasant. Their
flight had left MT at 6:30 AM. When they hit the RL around 7:30 or
8, their luggage got checked pending check in at another facility at
4:30. To my way of thinking, that is a pretty unpleasant day. I
heard some similiar stories although that was easily the worst.
The games were nothing to write home about. I was not very
sophisticated about VP back then but I recall that the best JOB was 8-
5 flattop. The BJ I played was DD, DOA, H17, no DAS or RSA or LS. I
don't recall the 6D rules beyond DOA and H17. The DD pen was about
65-70% and was consistent with three dealers.
The RL is located east of downtown in a "strip sprawl" along business
I-80. There was a small RL connected casino across the road that had
SD Reno rules BJ with RO6 pen. But I saw no badges there so you
probably got no credit toward your trip or RL comps.
Naturally, it is your call, but if I were to get on a plane to NV, I
would go somewhere else. OTOH, I think Elko is a fun place to visit
by car with the ability to visit some of the nearby wild areas.

Does anyone have any experience with this company and/or the hotels
in Elko? Do that have decent VP or BJ? I checked the database and
the board archives and found no info on Elko at all.
