Casino de Charlevoix is one of 3 casinos in the Canadian province of
Quebec. It is located in the town of La Malbaie on the North shore
of the St. Lawrence river. This is an extremely beautiful area, but
is basically in the middle of nowhere, a 2 hour drive from the
nearest city (Quebec City).
It is a small casino with a couple dozen tables (including single-
zero roulette) and several hundred slot machines. The staff are
bilingual (English & French).
There is one $5 Jacks or Better 8/5 machine in the high limit area.
There are two $2 Jacks or Better 8/5 machines on the main floor.
These are the best games I could find. Blackjack rules are also
good, for those who are interested (Stand on 17's). There is no
craps.
There is a high-roller lounge off the high-limit area which has free
wine and beer and drinks. Tipping is not allowed in the lounge, so
the drinks really are free. There is also hot food at 5pm every day
in the lounge. Access is granted to anyone who plays in the high-
limit area. Other than the lounge, comps are virtually non-
existant, except for an insignificant amount of cash-back.
