Is there a strategy and does anyone know it?

  It is very simple in concept, just capture the maximum
number of checkers you can on each 'dealt' layout. This
task is actually a bit tricky, but I believe there are only
a handful of 'tricky' kinds of positions. Otherwise, I think
you must always play 9 black checkers. When I looked at the
best payable on the game, it seemed a 9 coin wager used the
same payable as the higher wagers, so 9, 18,27,36, and 45
coins are all full pay. By the way, I found out quickly that
this beastie can really chew up the Benjamins. I was playing
27 coins and a bill was dust in well under 5 minutes. I
fed in another (thinking I wonder if I have bit off more than
I can chew) bill and quickly got a 6-jump layout with a gold
coin to boot. I made most of the obstacle course and high-
tailed it out of there with a tidy 244 profit. Needless to say,
I decided I need to see just how much money can swing around in
these before I play more.

  My suggestion, get out a checkerboard and fool around with
some possible layouts until you can recognize the tricks. All
in all, it should only take an hour or 2 to master this one.

Another way to practice the game and strategy is to
play the demonstration version at the following

While it helps to practice the strategy to get a feel
for the types of moves on the board it is even cooler
that you don't have to memorize or use a strategy card
like video poker.

after reading Dancer's article, I must be missing something and can
not see how he comes up with the one pay table being 100+ % pay back ?

I thought a slot machines chip controlled the pay back not the pay
tables ? so how can anyone figure out the pay back ?
but of course you would want to play the highest pay table that you
could find to play

  I do want to add some more data to this thread.

  I found the 100.98% signs at the Santa Fe. I played
a little, decided the variance was a bit higher than I
liked for a game that I did not yet know well. Dancer's
article had the various pay tables and I took a copy with
me the next day to the casino. I was amazed to find that
the signs were in error. The games DO NOT have the 100.98%
version. They have the next lower one. I was really
pissed. I think this a violation of the laws of ethics
and probably Nevada law too. I called the Gaming Control
Enforcement division. They were not at all interested.
Instead of investigating the infraction and punishing the
offender, they told me to speak to the casino management.
They even acted like the signs were not a violation.

  I was not inclined to argue the point, but I was quite
disappointed. So, I called the casino and spoke to a slot
manager on Monday morning and explained the problem.
On Tuesday, I visited the Santa Fe and found that the signs
were removed, but the machines were unchanged.
