So do you work with a host at the Silver Legacy or do you find that
with the mailed offers you don't need to use a host? We stayed at
SL for the first time over Memorial Day weekend and used a host, but
if being linked to a host prevents the kind of offer you described I
would rather have the mailed offers and no "discretionary comps"
from the host.
We are headed to the SL for a return trip this upcoming weekend, but
with no special offers, just the expectation of room and food being
comped by the host (we'll play $20K per day for four days). I would
rather have your free room and $500 deal.

YES, I got a host about 18 months ago. Certainly having a host in no way retards the
mailed offers.
I JUST got this offer in the mail yesterday, so check your mailbox. Do you get a
stream of non-stop mailings about entertainment, slot tournaments, etc, etc from
Silver? that would be an indication that they at least have your mailing address
correct.
If you don't get the mailer before you leave home this coming weekend, I strongly
recommend you contact your host (phone call might be best) and explain that you
expect that you are eligible for the current CASH promotion. (tell the host you didn't
get the mailer.) Remember, it's $250 upon check-in and $250 more after 1250 pts.
The host will take care of you, maybe after a quick check of your daily point average
from last trip, he or she will have the promo manager fill out the coupon for you,
which you then take to the main cashier cage and they give you CASH! If you
averaged $20K per day on your previous visit, then activate this action by your host
right away when you get there. If your average was lower last trip, find a host after a
day or two @$20K coin-in on this trip to get the highest level bonus.
I certainly don't know the formula for what coin-in average nets what level of cash
bonus, but $20K is definitely good for the highest level which is the $250/$250.
Might be as low as $16K, I dunno. Host's discretion is always the best.
I'm 90% sure this will work with no hassle - nice to get a Royal with "the house's
money". And you will still get room and food comped.
Or take the money and RUN!
