cash back or not to cash back
As long as you don't do a transaction on a day that you are not playing, there is no problem in taking your cash back whenever you want.
i.e. don't take your cash back when you are leaving the casino at the end of your trip. Take it after you play your last hand for the trip.
These guidelines will work for all casinos except those that may give you some kind of bonus for carrying a large point balance.

At the Eureka in Mesquite, you can get into a tournament for 1/8 of
its value. They give out twice the entry fees in prize money. If
you've played enough, they give you an additional 50% discount. And
you can get an additional 50% discount by paying for that with points.
In addition to this, at least at the most recent tournament, they
didn't fill it up, so there was even more value per entrant, since
they still paid out all the prize money. It's the only time I've ever
been sorry I've cashed out all my points.
