Cash Back or Free Play?

The Wynn Resort says they offer "Cash Back", but then they say it
can be used for "Free Play". This sounds like a distortion of the
usual meaning of the term "cash back", although there definitely is
value associated with getting free play.

I'm curious how this works. I assume you go to the players desk to
get your cash back, but they don't give you actual cash. Instead
they give you machine credits (free play) via your players card. I
also assume these "free play" credits can't be converted to a TITO
slip at a TITO machine (real cash). How does the system maintain the
distinction between free play credits and credits earned via actual
play?

I can't answer this directly, but the menu on the Wynn card reader/promo
device on the vp machine has both a "cash back" button and a "free play"
button. At something like 400 points I was able to access $10 in free play,
which was a sign up promotion. I didn't play enough to bother with CB.

You set up a PIN number at the slot club booth. Then you can access
your freeplay at the machine whenever you like. 500 points=$10 of
freeplay. You must play the freeplay through the machine once. The
credits you earn via your actual play are your freeplay credits.

The other option on the menu is called Bonus Cash Credit or something
similar. One of the items included there is if you score a win on the
Bonus Bingo game that runs at random moments as you play. I don't
know what else would be included in that section.

Thanks for the explanation. Also, I noticed the sign above the
machine mention a Bonus Bingo game winner, but I didn't realize it
was one of the VP options.
