I just bought a travel pouch that hangs on an adjustable cord that you wear around your neck under your shirt designed for carrying cash, checks and credit cards. I haven't used it yet but it looks like it could hold several thousand dollars easily. I found it at a travel accessory store which I think was called El Portal(?)inside the Fashion Show Mall. They were marked down to half price, (about $8).
