My husband brings a plastic bag or several, and puts everything from his pockets into these plastic bags before he ever gets to security. Then he puts the plastic bags on the trays. It is very easy to do. If you want to conceal that there's a lot of money, just wrap your money in Kleenex or a piece of paper or put in an envelope and then put it in the plastic bag with the rest of your stuff, and all that stuff will easily go through the x-ray machine without a problem or being noticed. You can also put your plastic bag of pocket stuff into and a carry-on bag that you have and put that through x-ray.
Carrying money through airport
I always carry envelopes. And if it appears that I'll be taking home more than $10K in cash, I take some W2Gs to the cage and get a check instead. Much safer and makes the bank deposit easier.

You mean you do this after they paid you in cash at the time of the jackpot??? I didn’t think they were allowed to do this – that you had to ask for a check BEFORE they paid you in cash???

there IS another possibility here.
i flew on may 3rd this year, the day after the mayweather pacquiao fight ... in line -immediately behind me at TSA- were two EXTREMELY tough looking men, bedecked with heavy gold chains and fully "flamed out" in bright red shirts.
i always get patted down when i fly, so as i was waiting for a "helper," i could stand by and watch the entire transaction unfold.
they were carrying two large duffles FILLED with wrapped $10,000 bricks. for whatever reason they had pulled the money out and were putting it in plastic trays for the X-rays. i counted 12 of them ($120,000), but there well could have been (and probably were) more. the only times i've ever more CASH in person was a few WSOP final tables and one visit to the department of engravery in DC. that's it.
and those guys, truly, could not have been more nonchalant about it all. they were joking. laughing. ogling the two female flight attendants making the short cut pass though. there were LARGE gaps of time (as long as a minute, probably) where neither of them were looking at the money ... and it was spread EVERYWHERE on the belt.
so you could do that.

Yes

Though I have often gotten checks for particularly large jackpots, there have been times when smaller hand pays added up.
At various properties, I have taken cash to the cage to get a check. In every case for me, they wanted to see W2Gs from THEIR property, to validate. I presume they are wary of money laundering.

As an odd side story:
I recall many years ago, that LVH refused to pay checks for any jackpot under $5000. After hitting several RFs, I requested a check, but they refused.
My mother was with me on the trip, and got pretty creative. She'd had a mastectomy, but not reconstructive surgery. She removed her prosthesis, replaced it with the cash, and kept my money well protected for the trip home
