Cards unhold themselves upon redealing. Does it happen?

The other day, while playing NSUD, I was dealt a wild straight flush. I held all 5 cards and pushed (not hit) the deal button. I also made sure that my fingers were not touching any of the keys. The middle card unheld itself and was replaced by another card of no use. So instead of getting 50 credits, I got none.

Later I talked to the slot tech person, and he said that it could not happen. I believe we have discussed that on here before. Would anyone verify that they have had that ever happen to them. I see a card unhold many times, but usually of no consequence. Also, how can it happen, as the button is spring loaded to lift it off of the contacts.

Secondly, the slot tech opened up the machine and showed me how the orginal deal is shown along with the hold, and then the second deal is also able to be recalled at the same time. As I understand it, this would be of no value, as the "unholding" would essentially show the dealt hand with desired card having been replaced, unbeknown of course to the computer that there was previously a "good:" card in that slot. If a person forgot to hold that middle card, that would show up, but a unhold replacement is gong to look like a potential 4 card straight flush.

So my second question, is what can a person do in a situation like this? Doesn't it just become your word against the "evidence" showing the replaced card before the second deal.

What have you done in this case? What has the casino done?

Yes, it has happened to me several times. Often I just move on to another machine, but occasionally I get a tech to try to fix it. Once, back in the days of tokens, I was even given some... either to test it out or as reimbursement. I don't recall the line I was given.

Some machines have a bit of a delay in holding and unholding cards, so
that if the draw button is hit too quickly, they will end up doing
something unexpected, especially since some buttons are more sensitive
than others. My solution is to slow down and always pause slightly
after holding my cards, double checking just before drawing. Many
years ago, on an old IGT machine, I swear that I paused as usual and
held all 5 cards on a dealt flush. The middle card unheld just before
I pushed the draw button and I drew another card of the same suit. I
played a lot on that machine and it was the only time I ever saw it do
that. If I had missed my flush, I would have stopped and asked them
to check the hand. I've seen players who were probably just careless
get paid in such situations.

It happened to me once at CP. I was dealt a flush in 5-play and held all 5 cards. One card came unstuck but I surprisingly made the flush on 2 of the 5 hands. It took forever to get an attendant but he opened up the machine was able to confirm immediately that I had indeed been dealt a flush. He called a supervisor who insisted that the slot tech run some tests to see if the buttons could come unstuck. The slot tech did a number of things with the buttons and they both concluded that the buttons were faulty. The supervisor paid me the 90 credits I had lost and then shut the machine down.

If the card unholds itself, checking the hand will not show it, correct or not?

BTW in my instance, I stopped, looked to make sure all 5 were held, made sure my left hand was no where near the machine. Satisfied, I pressed the deal button, an bang it unheld the middle card. Was the press of the redeal the cause, or did just the correct vibration happen at the same time or something. We will never know.

Any idea how they determined buttons were faulty? Anytime I have had them checked, they push them a few times and see on the screen that it cycles on and off and say that nothing is wrong.

On the other hand, I have had btton that were very difficult to make contact to hold the card, and do/did not have a problem demonstrating that.
