Card Pulls?

I came across this term "card pull" in the VpFree glossary and I'm
wondering if it is effective in boosting one's points/comps/cashback
at casinos. My understanding is that a card pull is performed by
pulling out one's card before hitting the draw button when one has
been dealt a jackpot hand. For example -- this really happened a
couple of weeks ago -- I got dealt 4 aces and a high card on DDB
progressive at the Red Dolly. I pulled my customer card from the
machine, held the 4 aces, and hit the draw button. Lucky me, for once,
I was dealt a 3 and thus won $575 for the 4 aces with a kicker. My
question is, did I actually do anything worthwhile in pulling my card
before hitting the draw button?

I suspect that if a casino is tracking net dollars won/lost, then a
card pull is very effective. If a casino is simply tracking coins bet,
it really won't make any difference. Does anyone know how these things
work?

Thanks.

Based on what I've heard, card pulling used to work,
but probably doesn't work now on some of the newer
tracking systems. Also, some casinos have been known
to take administrative actions against card pullers (I
don't recall the details of these actions).
