How does a card counter hurt the other players at the table? They
might affect Greektown's projected profit numbers, but they certainly
don't affect the other players at the table.

Depending on how/when they bet, card counters may affect the other players
at the table. For instance, if the counter only plays hands when the "count is high" they
reduce the percentage of "good cards" that the other players receive.A favorite betting method for card counters is to stand behind the other
players, counting the cards and playing only when the distribution of remaining
cards is skewed in favor of aces and tens.

I think a player who only bets certain hands out of a shoe is very suspicious to the pit, especially if he comes in and out during high counts and is betting more than a few bucks. At Baccarat, it's ok. At blackjack, it will catch the pitbosses attention. Some of the high limit shoe games are 'No mid entry' and if you sit out one hand you sit out the rest of the shoe.
I think Sal was referring to preferentail shuffling. This action, taken by the casino, hurts the card counter but hurts the other players as well. It sounds like Sal wanted to shift the blame for preferential shuffling to those darn card counters instead of to Greektown management.
