Car Rental?

I'm planning on taking a Harrahs junket. During my stay I would like to get a rental car. Does Harrahs have one or do you know if I can pick-up one at the airport on arrival?

--- We have done exactly what you are proposing- renting a car at the airport after being flown in on a Harrah's junket.

You will get to avoid the bus trip to and from Harrahs from the Bullhead City airport and be able to drive around the Laughlin area but be sure that you actually need the car. We found it added expense and that taking water taxis up and down the river was more fun.

Okay, here is a summary of my experiences renting cars in Laughlin:

Advantages:

1) convenience of not using the Harrahs bus, especially on the departure day. That 5:30 AM bag check can be avoided.

2) Saves time waiting for river taxis. Also river taxis don't run during low tide times.

3) cab ride costs add up quickly. Harrahs to Riverside is about $10 one way.

4) Makes for an easy jaunt to Las Vegas

Disadvantages:

1) initial cost, gas fill up

2) if you are going to be drinking, driving isn't a good idea.

Here's how to do it. There are 3 rental car companies in the Bullhead City airport. Prices vary between them but I have had good luck with Enterprise. You can use an entertainment coupon or the Las Vegas Advisor coupon for 10% - 15% off. Enterprise will pick you up and drop you off at Harrahs if you need that.

There is an Avis in the Tropicana Express. They will also pick up and drop off to hotels. I don't know if they do airport service. Sometimes they are cheaper than the airport, sometimes not.

Gas in Bullhead City tends to be cheaper than in Laughlin.

I believe the gas station near Harrahs will accept comps but you have to get the comp first and then make the purchase.

To give you a rough idea, I am renting a vehicle March 29 - 31 and the cost for 2 days is $80 for a compact or $155 for a minivan. This is more than Las Vegas but it is also a much smaller market.

Personally, I like having a car. It is especially helpful since Harrahs is a little isolated from the rest of the casinos.

If you have any other questions, I'll try to answer them.

Thanks for all the info. I found that I can get a 3 day weekend rental {1-29/2-1} from Enterprise for $68 total. I plan on going to Vegas for 2 nights.

I would keep checking periodically because I've found that rates fluctuate. You may get a lower rate even as close as 2-3 weeks before you need the car. If you find a better rate you can always cancel the current reservation and rebook.
