Another angle you might want to try is Priceline. I bid $11/day for
an economy car rental in June and it was accepted by Avis. It's
certainly worth a shot, though I was unsuccessful bidding up to
$13/day for an upcoming trip this month.
Also FWIW, I had a pretty bad experience at Alamo a few months back.
Upon arriving at their site, I had to stand in line for about an hour
to get the paperwork done. After that, I went outside to get my car
and found that I had another line to stand in! There were NO CARS
available. As returned cars came out of the wash process, they were
given out to us in the line. Fortunately, that only took about 15
minutes. But, 75 minutes is just too long to wait to get a car.
It'll be a long while before I choose them again.
That's one of my only concerns about Priceline... Alamo is on their
short list of rental companies.
Good luck, -Ken-
I'm planning a trip to Vegas late August and am looking at car
rentals since several days are planned in Laughlin. I've tried the
CTI at Dollar, as well as the ACG Alamo ones without much luck. The
Dollar website says the CTI is not applicable to 'this account' and
the Alamo rates are quite high. Will need the car for 7 days.
Do any of you have recently used codes that have gotten you
relatively good rates?
