My accountant just told me this. I do long form. I hope accountant wrong. But, having wrong info would
not make me happy either. The old damed if right, damed if wrong.

You cannot offset losing sessions against winning sessions on IRS form 1040 as a casual gambler unless you itemize. Winning sessions go on Form 1040 as other income and losses get deducted on Schedule A.
You cannot just net out wins and losses on your 1040.
depends on your state. can’t deduct here in north carolina, for instance.
