Can Someone Explain!

With Frugal VP you can do runs using computer play. I set up a 9/6
JoB and played the maximum games possible. I used the computer play
option for one billion hands (actually 10 hands short of that total
using the 10 play option) . No problem, just start the program and
come back later. Of course, the computer plays perfect (no errors).
The results are a negative 21,317,850 coins or a 96.9763% return.
There were over 25,000 Royals!

I also did a run using Full Pay Deuces Wild. The result of the one
billion hands is a gain of 41,007,020 coins or 105.8163%. The run had
over 22,000 Royals and over 200,000 4 Deuces. Are there any multiplay
FPDW machines available?

Should not the results in both trials, after so many random hands,
be closer to the long term expected returns?

Just wondering,

Bob

I'm not taking the time to take a look at FVP to confirm how data is
reported ... just looking at your reported figures.

Your total coin in (5*(10^9-10)) = 4,999,999,950. 21,317,850 coins
represents a 0.4264% loss, or a return of 99.5736%.
I'm not sure where your reported return was pulled from (FVP?), but
the actual return differs from game ER by under .03%.

I also did a run using Full Pay Deuces Wild. The result of the one
billion hands is a gain of 41,007,020 coins or 105.8163%.

How about 100.820%, a difference from ER of under .06% (the higher
variance of DW playing out here).

Sounds like you've done something more than just misplaced a decimal.
Must be the result of watching all those hands play out on the screen

Harry,
I can understand your response and calculations. I do not know
what I might have reported inaccurately. However, I do believe the
final %Returns reported were correctly reported! I did not calculate
the final % return!
The only thing I can guess is that I might have messed up a
digit on the "+/- Credits"! (too many or two few digits!) However,
all of the results reported were just taken off the final "Frugal
Screen Results" which shows "Hands Played", "Credits Bet", "Credits
Won", "+/- Credits" and "%Return". The % Return is the coins won or
lost divided by coins played x 100 and added or subracted from 100%.
I did not "mess up" this reported number! There was no question it
was 96.9763% for Jacks and 105.8163% for Deuces.
A shorter test shows Frugal software seems to do this
calculation, as you do, accurately. Again, the returns of 96.9763%
for JoB and the 105.8163 for FPDW, were taken directly from the
result screen and should be correct for "all coins" played.
Trust me, I did not sit and watch the computer play, but came
back hours later and just reported the results. I did not save the
final results, but as you stated, they should have been based upon
999,999,990 hands played and 4,999,999.950 coins bet. So I guess I
will have to do another run sometime when I expect to be away from
the computer for a number of hours. Next time I will print out the
results using Gadwin PrintScreen 2.5!

Thanks,
Bob

Since the play results, in credits, jive with what one might expect
for a trial of a billion hands, I have to imagine from what you report
that there is some type of glitch in the FVP return calc when a very
large multiplay trial is involved.

For a limited trial, the return calc yields a correct result.

(apologies for the suggestion that human error was possibly at fault here)
