California Update

Forgive me this may not be 100% accurate.

For those of you that enjoy Treasure Chest VP.... I THINK I saw some
machines at the Cal that pay $1199 for the Royal instead of the
typical $1000. I believe I was riding up the escalator at the time I
spotted these so look in that area.

It sounds like the machine you witnessed had a four of a kind. Once you get a four of a kind with the Treasure Chest VP, you get to choose which treasure chest you want. Payout ranges from 140 coin to $1199. Last November my wife picked the right treasure chest for me and I won $1199.

One more point on these treasure chest machines found at the 3
downtown Boyd properties. I'm almost sure that the $1199 top prize
for the four of a kind is the same for .25, .50, & 1.00 machines.
Congrats on hitting yours. I'll be out this weekend & usually spend
most of my time playing those. Still waiting for my 1st $1199.
although I've had a couple of royals on those, one trip 2 within
about 12 hours, .25 variety unfortunately.

On the Treasure Chest VP - they are 8/5 Jacks with the mystery 4OAK,
right? I assume then that the strategy is the same as regular 8/5 JOB.

Not true. If you MUST play this game (the return is quite a bit below
other games fancied by members of vpFREE --- even though the percentages
aren't published anywhere that I know about as the game is long
out-of-date and not supported by current releases), you need to get an
estimate of how much the quads pay on average. If your estimate is 175
(and I'm picking a number randomly, not one that I know is accurate) and
develop your 8-5 Jacks strategy using the higher quad amount. It will be
very similar to 8-5 Jacks, as strategies aren't very sensitive to the
return on quads, but a few of the plays are different.
