Cal Neva North Lake Tahoe

They are going into receivership: http://tinyurl.com/d8szva

This place used to be owned by Frank Sinatra, and is full of history. I
stopped in last month, and counted 6 cars in the parking lot... about
half of the number in the employees parking lot. I played in the
beautiful round bar, and found no one on duty. A slot tech said he
could get drinks for us... as long as they were not too fancy. He did
pour me a beer, and gave some drinks to a group of about 5 people. They
wanted to pay, but he said no- he had no key to the cash register.

It would be a great shame if it were closed. However it does need refurbishing and re-
vitalizing. I have visited it several times over the last few years and found the restaurant
with the gorgeous view over the lake substandard to what it could and should be and the
casino in need of better up to date games. I got the impression that it was poorly run and
left to decay. Last year in August I went there intending to go for lunch but once I saw how
empty and decrepit it looked, my partner and I decided to go to the little casino (forgot it's
name) next to it on the highway which had a nice bistro room that served good food.
