Caesers downgrades/Mistakes or not?

Agreed. Authors should never point out the existence of a "mistake" machine
in a magazine. Casino execs can read. I don't think one should do so in a
forum either, but that's an uphill battle since anybody can post, and
inevitably somebody blabs.

But, secrets can be kept. At least 100 forum members knew that the LVH's
Pick'ems paid cashback and comps at "slot machine" rates for about a year before
somebody blabbed. We all said "shhh", and the secret was kept buried for
another months or so before the LVH eventually figured it out.

A similiar mistake type play were the nickel 50-plays in Harrahs-Laughlin
that featured 9/6 Jacks. There were three of them that took several different
floor positions throughout remodeling. But by November 2004 they were acting
like slot machines at $5/ base point.

Bob Dancer referrenced these machines in his casinogaming August 22, 2006
article titled "Busted".

What was curious is they used to play at $10 base point before Fall 2004. At
my level of play and other low rollers the main advantage was doing a Diamond
in a Day deal for $9k coin-in on a low variance game. Playing 15-25 hands,
$9k could be done in four hours or so.

Every once in awhile someone would scratch their head and post something on
one of the sites. I know I did. I tried to point players to these games if
they were contiplating a DinaD effort without being too obvious. The nickel
multi-play element made it a fun/safe way to play for a card upgrade. I did mine
the first week of January 2005.

What even got stranger is they then turned on the dime level in the games and
installed a fourth 50-play with 9/6 Jacks in the non-smoking casino. Even
this fourth game was putting out like slots.

Alas, the play came to an end after about 18 months. But how did these games
get set as slots in the first place? Was it because they were unplugged and
moved? Maybe it was an inside lower level job? There is one other 50-play in
the house that didn't even have 9/6 Jacks, but 8/5. A mystery to me.
