Caesars Trip Report - Long

The wife and I were in Vegas a few weeks ago with my brother-in law
and his wife to celebrate his 50th birthday. It was the first time to
Vegas for both of them so we wanted to show them a good time.

HOTEL
Stayed at Caesars for three nights and got two rooms in the Augustus
tower with views of the fountains. My brother and sister in-law are
both spa, foodie people, so we thought the Augustus tower was a good
place to be. Our rooms were comped and I got a casino rate for them.
The Augustus tower rooms are excellent, some of the best "Standard"
rooms in Vegas. We love the beds and the view.

DINING
The following is a breakdown of meals over the three day trip:

Mesa Grill
We loved this place. The coffee covered fillet and port tenderloin
were standouts. This is a great restaurant which is relaxed and
upscale. Dinner was $350 for the 4 of us including 2 bottles of wine.

Bradley Ogdens
We really wanted to love this place, but we don't. We only had desert
one night, which was very good, but expensive. Probably need to give
it another go.

Sensi
Another excellent meal. I particularly liked the Indian slant on some
of the dishes. Create decor, plus they have a New Zealand chef (my
homeland!). Dinner was $300 for 4 including 2 bottles of wine.

Okada
Best atmosphere and service of all the places we ate at. Food was
excellent. This is simply an outstanding Japanese restaurant. Dinner
was $330 for 4 including 2 bottles of wine.

Cafe Lago
Had the breakfast buffet one morning and it was surprisingly good! I
hadn't heard a lot of good things about it, but we were all impressed.
Perhaps it has been updated recently? Ate outside in the shade
overlooking the pool. Lovely.

GAMBLING
Did DIAD for my wife this trip so that next time we get a room if we
bring friends. Here is a breakdown of our play:

10c 10-Play NSUD
Played about 12 hours total on this. On a 4 to a Royal deal my wife
drew 2 royals for $800. Also hit 10 sets of deuces over the 2 days.
Gained just over 2 bonus per base point while playing.

25c 3-Play JOB STP
Played about 26 hours total on this. Got 1 royal on a 4 to royal deal
and scored 2 four of kinds with the x8 Multiplier. My wife also had 3
Straight flushes. Gained about 1.5 bonus per base point while playing.

Total coin-in on my card was $55,000 for the 3 days and another
$18,000 on my wifes. Overall we finished $1,700 up, which was our
second best trip ever! Note: It has now been 2 years since my wife
got her last 25c royal, while I got my 6th one this year!

6th royal for 2006...how often do you come to lv...i live here and am
not even close to #6....it has been a rough vp year...how's everyone
else doing at the half year mark...it would be reassuring to hear
players are doing well to remind me it is only temporary...

Alas, I have only had one this year. Good thing it
was for $22+K on a progressive in Tunica!!

We were also there just a few weeks ago and the two STP by Bradley
Ogden's were still 9/6. The two close to the entrance to the shops
were and still are 9/5.

I've done just over $300,000 coin-in on 25c machines this year (lots
of 3 and 5 play) so that works out at around a royal every 40,000
hands, which isn't too far off the mark. My wife has done $125,000
this year without a 25c royal. Last year we did $350,000 combined
with a 25c royal (we did hit a lot of 5c royals though).

This year is better

Just came back. Near the sport book there are a whole bank on 9/6 JOB just north of the bar (On the ticket booth side). They are multi-game and I think they are labled as Double Bonus but they are multi game. Be careful. just a little walk away from them are some 9/6 and next to it a 6/5. I guess it's placed for the non-informed. Had a lot of 4 of a kind and won $$ and comps but (sadly) no Royals.
