Caesars Show: A New Low

I didn't think anything could be much worse than the defunct Golden
Nugget reality show, but the producers of the Caesars show have found
a crap amplifier whose knob goes to 11, surpassing anything else I've
ever seen. The latest episode features a gaggle of skanks who hustle
bets from tourists at the tables, a bipolar horse bettor in a manic
phase and, in what has to be the fingernails on the chalk board of
any gambling segment,a craps "professor" who "teaches" gamblers how
to play. Sweet deal; the "student" supplies the bankroll and
the "professor" takes 1/2 of any winnnings. The prof comments at the
end, "it's great to win money." Yes, I'm sure its especially good to
win money when you haven't risked any of your own! There was no
cautionary note with either the hustlers or the professor/scam artist
segment. The folks at Caesars who thought any publicity was good
publicity just did not envision the depths that this show mines.
Ugh, no more. I'm through. Time to press the thumbs down button on
the TIVO.

I found the show to be much more realistic than the Golden Nugget joke. There are a lot of hustlers in Las Vegas, they had the guts to show them in action.
If you and I can figure out that some of these people are hustlers, so can many others. I much prefer this show to the one on the GN.

I'm with you Chandler.

I've given the show a couple chances to improve, but its going no
where fast. Its poorly scripted and it shows. American Casino at
least builds some on the backgrounds of the staff and show you parts
of the resort.

Every week on C 24/7 they love to focus on the big winners because
everyone wins in vegas. Its easy to win. Hey, the craps professor
showed how you just bet all the points and then roll the dice and you
will eventually win. what a joke.... Oh, and what a scam. I need to
get people to let me "tell them" how to play games and if they win I
get 1/2. Risk nothing but some time and win free $$.

Its so scriptted its not even funny and then its edited which makes
it worse. Take for example the GF of the big BJ player who just
wanted $$ and a ring. She had her face 1/2 turned away from the
camera when they were in their cabanna and you could clearly see she
was chewing food, but they voiced over her like she was talking to
him.

The skanks taking guys money at the table made Caesers look like a
dump where they allow guys to be hustled. Did Caesers actually
approve this segment? I predict this show is gone as quick as the GN
one disappeared.

It paints a bad image for Caesers and a little bit for Vegas.

Hi Chandler,

I absolutely agree with you! I was appalled at the lack of anything
approaching good taste, or of trying to portray the glamour that has
alwys been associated with the Caesars name. I was particularly
turned off by the (non-pro) bimbos who were out hustling casual
weekend sex. After they had lined up a couple of guys, they got imto
a huge physical fight, replete with name-calling, when one of the
guys declined the invitation, and went back to his girlfriend. This
program was about as sleazy as it gets. it was akin to watching one
of the shock-jock shows. I'm amazed that Caesars would be a party
to this kind of abysmal reality TV. If I was one of their high-
rollers, I'd be looking for a different property!

I didn't like the GN show either. I thought the

new owners, Tim & Tom, were ill-advised to participate in this
poorly done and trashy production. I've always thought that the GN
was the class of downtown, and the show portrayed anything but
elegance and class.

My particular aversion was to the young, sleazy kid whose dad got
him a host job. I thought that he was an exceedingly poor example of
what a suave host should be. Ugh!

BTW, I didn't think much of the GVR show either. I thought it was
particularly inappropriate to document the in-fighting among the
casino employees.

Oh well, I guess that's why I'm not in show-biz!

You have got to be kidding. Their bookings and high roller visits went way up for a couple of months after the show. They're getting a lot more upscale clients as a result, people who use to go to trendoid places like Mandalay Bay and Hard Rock. Last time I spoke to Tim he told me there's a decent chance the show will have another season. I don't think thats going to happen, but I really enjoyed that show.

It still is the class of downtown, nothing downtown there is even close ( I've stayed at every hotel there except the Western).

I disagree. If you've ever met Tommy and his Dad, you would realize they are BOTH fine people persons, very responsible, with a bright future and whom customers really like. You have to remember that you only saw 1/10 of the actual video footage. It was edited to promote controversy and spark ratings. I've been going to the GN for a few years now, and can assure you if you give them a shot at your bankroll you'll be treated like family.

It's all about ratings - The free publicity has really made this place an "in spot". I've been going to GVR since week one of its opening, and it's night and day over there now due to the tremendous show impact.
