Sounds like Albert is a totally "in-control" gambler--however, most aren't. (I've placed some embarrassingly impulsive bets on my way out the door.)
Beyond that, even people without a clue understand that their money is gone too fast, without feeling entertained. I've heard people claim the machines were too"tight" due to the casino manipulating the games from "above". They may have had the wrong reason (pathetic pay tables were the culprit), but they understood empty pockets.
