I stopped into Cache Creek on a trip to N. California last Saturday. I told myself I'd find the best VP machine possible and throw $100 in. First of all, the VP machines were very scarce. I found a couple of banks of uprights and a couple banks of slant tops. I saw a DDB progressive bank with a very high progressive on the Aces w/ Kicker and RF, so I played for a bit. As I was playing, they turned off all the other machines in the bank that weren't being played. As soon as I finished (a very fast losing session), they turned off my machine. By the time I left, all of the upright VP machines in the casino were in "Out of Service" mode while the slant tops were all still in service. I didn't ask why they were doing that, but my guess is possible a downgrade or change in hardware.
Not much of an update except that 9/5 JOB was still available in the slant tops in MG/MD 10, 20, 25, 50 cent, $1, and $2 denominations. I have never seen 20 cent denomination before, but I guess that keeps the maximum bet at a $1.
