I will be taking a short Vegas trip this coming September staying Downtown. I have the option of taking a cab or renting a car at about 25 per Day or $80 total for the trip. Which do think would you think would be better?
Thank You,
Paul Skofield

We always rent a car because we like to go to Suncoast, Southpoint and other outlying casinos. Did you try Payless? Don't bite on any of the extras. Also do remember that if the car gets damaged by valet, you are responsible. Car rental agreements do not allow other drivers even valet and if the car is damaged, the hotel will most likely say you were in violation of your rental agreement and refuse to pay (I read that on one of these posts a few years ago and checked it out).

Huh?
Valet parking attendants create a "bailment for hire", and must use ordinary care and dilligence in parking your car. If not, they are liable for damages. Your degree of compliance with your rental agreement has no bearing on it.
If you meant to say "car rental agency" instead of "hotel", you're likely right if you're talking about the optional agency insurance coverage. But you should never use that -- it's a ripoff. Your own auto insurance and/or premium credit card protection will normally cover you adequately.
