Let me explain why the $20,000+ machine might have existed even
though it might appear to be a $0.25 machine. The first reason is
not everyone plays full coins, which mean the meter moves based on
the **total action** even though a few players are qualified for the
jackpot. The second reason is the minimum bet to qualify for the
jackpot was $5.00 (or 20 quarters) not $1.25. That's right, even
though the machine had a minimum bet of $0.25, you can't qualify for
the RF jackpot unless you bet $5.00 or 20 coins!! I highly doubt it
was a 5 coins machine. The third reason is lack of knowledgeable
players. The fourth reason could be a high meter feed (see below on
story about a unnamed CA Indian casino). And the last reason is the
abundance of machines linked to that meter.>>>

A couple of years ago, a Laughlin casino showed me their book of RF on a $
progressive bank. Over 2/3 of RF were short coin. Either vanity or stupidity was
prevalent here as right next to the bank were the same game in quarters where
you could get a FP RF.

<<<......
Lastly, the highest RF meter (at X for 1) I've seen in an Indian
casino was 2,800 for 1 (I heard it was hit at over 3,000 for 1).>>>
A few years ago, Jackson Rancheria had $ progressives which had 3% meters &
the RF hit $20K at least twice that I can remember. It was a 9/6 JB with
progressives on SF & 4 OAK. SF often went over $2K & 4 OAK went over $300 once.
Meter was cut not due to pros as I saw very few but due to casino wanting to make
more money on a bank that was usually full. They were right. After the cut,
the banks were still full mostly with regulars who had done well before but
weren't astute enough to realize how much the higher meters had cushioned their
swings.
