But what happens if you WIN on a friend's free play?

Ex: You walk into the casino, sit at a $5 machine, put your friends card, download $100 free play and press max bet.
You are dealt a $5 royal for 20k. The machine locks up automatically with $20,075 on the credit meter. (no time to call your friend)

Would the casino have a legal case to deny the jackpot?

All I would do is say I put the wrong card in the machine as I was holding my friends card because he forgot his wallet. I would then reach into my pocket and produce my own card that should have been in the machine. Hey! People make mistakes.

You will be paid. The question will be whether your friend gets any more $100 free play coupons after they review the tape and see you putting his card and free play voucher in the machine or entering his access code. At a minimum most likely, the win will be put on your account and you will be tripped for the day.

No. This is not a legal issue.

I was thinking that since slot$(like most other club benefits) are not transferable then the casino could simply say
You were not entitled to use those slot$ and therefore not entitled to the jackpot that resulted directly from their (mis)use.
