Bush's popularity

I supported John Mccain in 2000. I got stuck with Bush. In 2004 I
could vote for the Idiot or the Socialist. In that situation I'll
take the Idiot every time. But I said in 2000 that if Bush gets in
oil would go sky high. He's gonna let his big contributing oil
buddies have their way. But he's not gonna tell the American
people "Hey, I'm gonna let my big contributing oil buddies slap the
piss out of all of you with high gas prices." No, he's gonna tell
you that theres been an interruption in the flow or refinery
capacity is dowm. BUT, the ULTERIOR MOTIVE is he's gonna let his
big contributing oil buddies slap the piss out of you with high gas
prices.

If you don't think Iraq is about oil then what was the gulf war all
about? Why would we care about a little raghead country like
kuwait? Bush 41 stands up and tells the American people that
America will stand by her friends. A friend in need is a friend
indeed. In need of oil that is. Why else would we give a rats ass
about those camel jockeys?

Oil was not flowing out of Iraq to us because of sanctions on
Saddam. He was given ample time to clean up his act, but didn't.
Big Oil had to make a move. Weapons of mass destruction was the
pretext used to sell the invasion to the American people. BUT, the
ULTERIOR MOTIVE was BIG OIL needs that friggin oil. Profits, baby.
It's all about making a buck.

It appears we are pretty much in agreement.

I believe the Gulf war WAS about oil supply AND money. Saddam
probably would not have stopped at Kuwait if we had ignored him, but
he would have significantly increased his power/influence even if he
did stop. Big OIL was worried because, at a minimum, he would have
seized all their assets in Kuwait.

The current war is about increasing the oil company profits and it
has done a very good job. Big OIL found out that conflict in the
middle east raises prices. So, when their man got into office they
started to work. With 9/11 came the perfect excuse to make a move.

Once again, you omit the ground truth. If we take our
troops away, we have no control over Iraqi crude flow.
Was this 'ulterior motive' limited to a narrow time
window?

Again, having American's dying in Iraq has not reduced the cost of
oil to Americans. We, as consumers, are being bent over by everyone
involved with this debacle and seem to be smiling as they are doing
it.
