I will have a car but in the unlikely (LOL) event I sip a few too many cocktails how does the bus service between the downtown area and Atlantis/Peppermill work? I am interested in if they accept dollar bills/inexact change, etc.
For those lucky enough to have never visited New York buses there require exact change (think it's up to $2.50) and by change they mean CHANGE-no bills.
Bus from Downtown to Peppermill/Atlantis
It's $2.00 and you get a 90 minute transfer. $5.00 for a day pass. You can
use cash or even those obnoxious gold $1. You won't get any change from the
farebox but if you're downtown there's a station where you can talk with a
human.
From 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM (give or take a couple of hours) the buses run every
12 minutes. You can use either the RAPID or the Connect as the RAPID still
serves the Peppermill and Atlantis.

If you're just going from CitiCenter to Peppermill/Atlantis, just ride RAPID.

That's great. I assume the stops are right on Virginia St. and marked "bus stop" or something similar?

Yup. The "Rapid" stops are marked "Rapid", and the "Connect" stops are marked "Connect".

And every rapid stop is a connect stop, but not vice versa
