Breaking the law in Washington State

From [FREEvpFREE] <<Hi there: I'm a member of the VP Free board, and since it said
that
this was the free-speech side of that board for extended topics, I
thought I'd inquire and see if it is okay for this discussion to
take place here?

I'm a video poker fan who travels to Vegas a couple of times a year
to play (since the machines in WA state are really more like slot
machines, according to the American Casino Guide). I subscribe to
Casino Player magazine, and the Las Vegas Advisor: But because of a
new, vaguely-worded law passed on June 7th in Washington state that
prohibits not only online gambling, but even MENTIONING it, my
Casino Player magazine has canceled all WA state subscriptions, and
everyone LVA member from WA risks having their membership canceled,
too.

The reason? Because according to the Director of the WA State
Gambling Commission, anyone who even displays ads for online
gambling sites could be found guilty of "Aiding and Abetting", which
is now a Class C Felony in WA. >>

I just read this on [FREEvpFREE] and I felt it was a VERY important topic for us to discuss here, because it is directly related to playing VP. I had not heard of this Washington State law. Does anyone have more information on this?

I think this was recently discussed here (perhaps on vpFREE_online?).
Here's one article reviewing the law which went into effect June 7:

Concerning Casino Player suspending WA state subscriptions, that one's
news to me. But I expect that CP/SS will discontinue accepting online
casino advertising in the near future, given the experience of

That's quite interesting, to me anyway, because I go to various
Washington casinos during the summer. I fact, I was at the Quest
Casino in Spokane this afternoon. Those folks need to turn off the
TV's there, because they have the many Texas Hold-em shows and most
include online gambling ads. My opinion is a law like this won't
pass a court test. Drinking is illegal for under 21's, but it's OK
for teens to read magazines with liquor ads!
