Hi Gang:
Geez ... youse guys sure know how to throw cold water on a celebration!
We're not talking about the LONG RUN, for gosh sakes, we're just talking
about this one year ... how it had a relatively happy ending! That's all.
And tax-wise, we've never been hit hard because we claim losses up to the
amount of wins reported (legitimately because we are not really winners) and
being pushed into a higher tax bracket has never been a major problem for us.
Also, in answer to the question below, yes, on the East Coast our Seven
Stars status is worth at least $10,000 to us, probably more. You can't put a
price on perks such as never having to wait on a line again ... at restaurants,
lounges, giveaways, tournaments etc. ... or being able to get a Friday or
Saturday room at the last minute or a second room for friends or relatives. The
Seven Stars card opens up doors that are closed for everyone else. We've had
one for two years now and we'll never give it up.
Regards,
CoachVee & Hedy
Just a little aside from Hedy. It really irks me when Tom takes so much time
and effort doing his trip reports, that most people do enjoy, but a few have
to dissect every word. This isn't the time to nitpick, just to enjoy. We
wish only the best of luck, happiness and health for everyone on this list.
That's all we ask in return. Happy New Year!

Harrah's 7-Stars card takes a million coin in. If you're playing at a
1% loss rate (which is a reasonable guess, it could be far worse
depending on what games you play and your error rate and any other
"mistakes" you or the casino makes), that's costing you $10,000 on
average, plus the occasional bad year which will cost you much more.
Were the benefits of 7-Stars you received worth $10,000 or more? Keep
in mind that Vegas was basically built on Vegas blackjack, a
supposedly nearly breakeven game. Obviously, in practice, the casinos
held a quite favorable edge.
<Besides the actual losses, at a million CI in per year, what about
the many W2Gs that you get that push you into a higher federal tax
bracket that you would otherwise not be in -- and perhaps clcking in
the ATM, which minimizes your deductions.>
