Boyd's BConnected Slot Cards

I'm heading to Sam's Town on Saturday for a week, and I read about
this BConnected slot card. At first I thought it was a downtown only
type card that connected those hotels, but now I see in Scott Krauses
column, he shows the B-Connected cards at the Orleans, Sam's town and
South Coast.

Does this now mean that Boyd/Coast hotels are all connected like all
the Stations properties?

Most apparently are now using the BConnected card,
and some / most are using the Club Coast card.

Looking at the BConnected details online, it says that
the BConnected card is good at Sam's Town, the three
downtown casinos, the three Coast casinos and at
some midwest / south casinos.

The Club Coast details online says that the Club Coast
card is good at Sam's Town and the three Coast
casinos. It sort of implies that the CC card may be
good at all of the BConnected casinos also.

I have been checking them out myself. I have noticed that the tier levels are at different point accumulations, and have different time periods for earning the levels. I'll be at Sams Town and MSS next week and I wlll
attempt to learn how they all interact in the Vegas area.

I will report back with my results, and if I am lucky things will be clearer for all of us.

I have returned from my trip and spent a fair bit of time trying to come up with definitive answers to how the new system works.

Here are the conclusions that I have arrived at.

1. The bconnected and Club Coast cards are separate but do register at all the casinos in Las Vegas. i.e. if you put a CC card in a downtown machine it reads the card with no problem and vice versa.

2. I was told by my host at Sams Town that the clubs are separate. He also told me that they will be changing shortly and he led me to believe that eventually there would be one club.

3. My MSS Host told me that my bconnected card was good anywhere and that the clubs would merge in the near future. She confirmed that the bconnected card has a 6 month earning period for locals and a one year period for out of towners (finally some good news).

4. When the clubs merge you will be able to move your points from the Coast Card to the bconnected card.

After speaking to management types and hosts and other staff at MSS here is the results in a nutshell.

All machines with a low hold for the house are $3 coin in to earn a tier point.

At this point in time that includes all machines that have 10/7 DB as an option, and all the Treasure chest machines.

Currently none of these machines have labels telling you this, but the printed literature does say that some machines may require more than $1 per point.

Since the machines in this casino do not display a countdown I suggest that all players do a clocking of all machines they play in order to determine the requirements. To go to an extreme you should check every machine you play at all times in every downtown Boyd property because you don't know when and where management will change things.

I begged and pleaded with management to at least label the machines that require more than $1 per point, and I was told that they will consider it, but they don't feel that it is a mandatory requirement.

I observed that the Treasure Chest machines were as busy as always. The unsophisicated tourists didn't have a clue that their cash back was being cut by two thirds.

I only checked machines at MSS, but since all the downtown casinos are under the same management, these policies are probably consistant through all 3 properties.

One other observation. Most of the staff at the casino were unaware that some of the machines required $3 per point and were passing out incorrect information. Management did tell me that this would be addressed quickly. I hope others will keep bugging them to make sure that this happens and maybe they can be persuaded to label the machines to inform the public as to what is required.

Another thing my MSS host told me was that comps will be based on throughput not on tier points, but I imagine that the $3/point machines will have a lower theo and will require more play to earn a specific level of comps.

Well that's all folks. I have tried to be objective as possible and reported the facts as I understood them.

I've been wondering about MSS. I can't imagine that the silver/gold
card requirements will stay the same as before. But you never know...

I'm a Gold card at MSS, and my host didn't say anything about me having to up my play, but that could change in the future.

From a trip I had last month, I can verify that the Treasure Chest
machines at the Fremont casino also require $3 coin-in per point.
