Boyd tier conversion

What a great new program with Boyd Casinos Yesterday I have 246,000 tier credits, and today show 4706.

Guess when the Emerald expires 12/18 that will be the end of Emerald with Boyd, and likely the play with Boyd. Too bad, they had some nice properties to play at, but they’ve moved to the bottom of the players card list.

You stated you had 246,000 tier points I am curious as to what games you played and converted to 4706 under the New system.

I still don’t understand the conversion as I went from 281,000 to 1648 tier points playing NSUD and jacks

And I went from 27,000 to 54 playing Jacks, a 500:1 ratio.

75% of play was BP multi play 23+% JOB an occasional slot machine.

Wow the variance on these conversation rates are crazy! We only got to Vegas once this year for a few days. I was able to reach Sapphire in the few days were were there. I accumulated 27,000 points in July.

I just checked and those points converted over to 900 tier points so I still maintain Sapphire.

That is only a 30 to 1 ratio. My plan was mainly on the triple and five play progressive nickels at The Orleans and Gold Coast.

And I went from 27,000 to 54 playing Jacks, a 500:1 ratio.

Wow! You sure you didn’t have any 10/7 DB in there? Or maybe some pick-a-pair from the Fremont before they slashed the pay-tables earlier this year?

If you’re trying to get from Ruby to Sapphire you might be better off playing high denomination slots. Since slot theos assume 10% there are many basic $5 slots that have an actual return in the 95% range. I’d suggest $5 Double Diamond or $5 Triple Diamond classic 3 reel machines. Once you reach $751 in theo then switch back to Video Poker and play only on the various 11x multiplier days. I would ignore tier points completely once you make Sapphire…you’re never going to get to Emerald.

The major issue with the new Boyd Tier point countdowns is that they assume everyone is playing perfect optimum strategy. Very few people, even many of the members here, play perfectly. We all make errors of some sort including the occasional catastrophic “button-errors” where we think we hold 3 of a kind and only wind up holding a pair or some such error costing us $30 or $40 in a single hand. The typical 8/5 Bonus Poker game holds around 2% yet Boyd is assuming a hold of 0.83%. Forgetting advantage players, the collective global group of VP players are getting completely screwed over. Nobody should play Boyd anytime they don’t have a multiplier until they bring these point countdowns in line with reality.

In the meantime, you’re probably better off playing $5 slots…than playing a 99.99% video poker game.

Your strategy is what my husband and I discussed tonight at dinner .

We fly in four times a year (at a cost of 850-1000dollars) then rent a car ( but I check every day to see if the rate decreases) we fly Tuesday to Tuesday. So my husband and I arrive on a Tuesday and therefore are not eligible for the multipliers as we would start out as a ruby. Our first trip of four would be a trip where we accumulate no B connected points unless we play slots and achieve sapphire faster than trying to do so through video poker. This defeats the reason we come to Vegas. As a result playing at a Boyd property isn’t worth it.

We are emerald now and will miss the 3x points that emerald players received. We also enjoyed the discount at the breakfast and lunch buffet but even that has been slashed thus chewing up our points faster.

So it’s time to jump ship and look for a casino that treats out of town visitors better.

It’s funny, the more I continue to read the discussions on how to handle this situation, the more confident I am in my simple strategy…never play at Boyd again! But it will be certainly be weird to walk through the Gold Coast and not play at all when I use up my last comp room offers.

I received a press release that they were having 5x/2x multipliers on Labor Day. Then a revised e-mail omitting that information.

Anyone have up-to-date official info? Scot?

I got the same thing but I will inquire further. Did anyone get
a mailer stating the multiplier?

Our mailers did not mention a multiplier.

Interesting conversion. On Aug 26, I had 333,000+ tier points. On Aug 27, 3387.

My conversion finally happened on the online B-Connected, but another friend (SoCal) had not.

I’m at 559 tier- about 191 short of the 750 needed for Sapphire (My current Level). I was at 18,500, and had around 6500 to go on the old system. 80-90% play on sgl line NSUD (GC, Orleans) and the rest on mixed games (Bonus DW) in multigames at various (SC, ST, Orleans, GC), as I sometimes did daily promotions during different months as I felt led to do (usually gifts I wanted or daily promotional tournaments).

I guestimate a rough $35/tier, but that seems low, based on what others have reported.

I am planning a short visit in Sept, and will report on anything more discovered.

My offers for Sapphire have been decreasing steadily the past few years; I have done better just paying for slot tournament pkgs that Orleans and GC offer (*You have to pay resort fee + tax on these offers, but at least you get to play in a daily tournament that has about a 1:3 to 1:4 chance to get some freeplay, or if superlucky, like I was this past summer, place in top 5 for bigger cash prize).

Not an easy ‘frugal’ gaming economy to navigate; Cost of the business is catching up, unless something new happens soon. Open that new Resorts World late 2020??

LOL— Just read on LVA that TI poker room closed, so that also is NOT good for poker players. Even as popular as the game is, hard to find good promotions.

Sounds to me like Boyd is re-thinking those conversion rates and possibly those tier countdowns. Hopefully someone will check them.

I would say a few things:

  1. Leave Boyd ASAP.
  2. If you want comped rooms etc., your going to need some slot play.
  3. Emerald level play, why not do CET Total Rewards? Lots of room offers, Atlantis, Monthly Show Tickets, $100 Annual Dinner, Bonus Tier Points, No Resort Fees, Diamond Lounge, etc.
  4. I would also consider the Stratosphere Club program and the casinos that are in its players club.
  5. Reno, South Lake Tahoe, Laughlin, other Nevada. Also, Biloxi and other places, USA/Canada/Caribbean.
  6. Use offers & status at URComped for cruises etc.
  7. Four Queens has always been generous to me.
  8. Circus-Circus if you can stand children; as they have a generous program.
  9. For many of you, the goal is to have fun and have some comps to subsidize your vacation. In 2018, this really will mean slot play. If not (which I have done myself) limit casino visits, to cruises on URComped and my local Miami casinos.
  10. Those of you in the Biloxi market: IP has been gutted (gone are weekly comped meals, room stays, etc.) so I would take my business to Treasure Bay. https://treasurebay.com/players-club/club-tier-levels/

I have to disagree about Circus Circus. If you play their best game Aces and Eights, they are not very generous. I play there from time to time because I like the game . The hosts won’t give you even the most basic buffet comp, and the mail offers (when I am lucky enough to get one) are average at best.

Has anyone found any good VP on cruise ships? I have been getting offers from URcomped and I am interested in what they have to offer.
