Boyd Properties Tier Qualification

Double-checking – do your tier points drop off after 90 days? When you make Sapphire or Emerald, how long do you stay at that tier level if you don’t keep playing or don’t play enough to keep your points at the initial requirement for that tier level. I’m trying to get information for out-of-towners who don’t get to Vegas very often.

I'm not sure. I've been told by the club folk that once you have reached your tier you are good for six months. I've read in club literature that you have 6 months to achieve a given tier status. 250K for emerald and 100K for sapphire. The rate at which you earn points does not appear to be standard at all Boyd properties.

From the BConnected website, it looks like:
0-25k for Ruby
25k-250k for Sapphire
250k+ for Emerald

Also looks like it says Six Month total's...
I'm HOPING it's six months...as I went and put in 12k at MSS and I'm going back next month to finish up gettign Sapphire...

When I attained Sapphire, it was listed on the card as good for one year.
I'm an out-of-towner, with only 1 or 2 visits per year.

I asked about this at the desk at Sam’s Town earlier this month. My Emerald card has an expiration date of 10/31/12 and I am somewhat short of the required 250,000 at present. As an out-of-towner, my card has definitely been issued on ‘a good for 12 months’ basis, but I wasn’t clear on what the earning period was and when points roll off.

I was told that with an expiration date of 10/31, the period that would be considered to see if I had the 250,000 points was from 11/1 off the prior year through 10/31. I believe this is true.

The problem I have is that the tier card score shown at the B-Connected website is for the last 12 (rolling) months. At the beginning of each month, the oldest month’s total drops off. So the number shown there does not help me determine how many more points I need by 10/31 unless I know how many points will drop off between now and then. I don’t know exactly how many points I earned in Sept and Oct 2011 that will not be there. The rep at Sams Town could tell me how much I had earned those months at Sams Town but could not see information from other Boyd Casinos, such as Main Street, where I had a lot of play.

I do keep spreadsheet showing coin-in per day per casino, so I can probably closely estimate the points that will roll off.

The other thing I was told was that each dollar in on slots earns 2 points for tier purposes rather than the 1 point earned for video poker. I had not been aware of this.

A new wrinkle I hadn’t known either.

On the subject of tier: I had been told points drop off every 90 days. I tried another slot club employee and she said “Don’t worry about it.” Perhaps the 90 days is when you FIRST try for a higher tier and then you have a whole year to renew it???

A slot club should not have this complicated a system!!!!!!! Gives me a headache.

Anyone else have personal experience that you could relate to help here???

tier points drop off monthly, from the 6th month back. The tier level is good for 1 year from when attained.

Interesting. My card's expiration date is 6 months. Earned at a non Las Vegas casino.

In which case the rate at which tier points are earned may be universal, after all. Comp/FP points do not appear to be.

I am an out of towner. Here is what I was told recently at the Main St. Station players' club in response to my question: "Now that I am Sapphire, how do I keep that status?"

Your status is determined by your play over the previous twelve months. Play that is more than twelve months in the past is dropped from consideration.

In my case, I reached sapphire by accumulating about 32,000 points in February, 2012. The status is good until Feb.28/13. If I do not put on at least another 25,000 points by that date, sapphire will be gone. That's not an issue now, since I put on about 28,000 points in September. I assume I am now good until Sept.30/13.

So far, there appears to be a variety of answers to the questions...

One reason might be that there are (likely) still 3 or more different sub-groups within Boyd's players club program. A few years ago I had the full story but since then we've played very little at Boyd's properties and also they have made some changes -- and have also made it difficult to get detailed information on a national level.

Previously, there were different point requirements based on which was your home casino, and also different periods that you would retain your status. Downtown LV had one requirement and the other LV properties another. The Midwest and Tunica had others still.

Knowing which is your home property is probably the most important bit of info, then questions can be directed to that property for the most accurate answer.
