Boyd free rooms for status?

A few years back, I normally got offers for at least two free nights a month (mostly at the Fremont)…now, the best I get is the once-a-year “two free nights at any property” offer. Even as of earlier this year, I’d get a “second night free” type of deal at places like the Gold Coast, but in the last few months all I’ve been getting is the “reduced rate” offers. I’ve pretty well maintained Sapphire level for several years, but that doesn’t seem to count for much.

I’m just a lowly sapphire, but I’ve seen my offers start disintegrating as well.

Used to be 2 or 3 free nights anytime, then it was just Sun-Thur, and then it was buy 1 get 1 free, and now it’s play on certain specific days and earn X number of points and get a night free.

I have heard the story of those that really abused the gold card but as usual punish everybody because the actions of a few. I knew the pig people would kill a good thing.

The abuse problem was solved when they put dollar restrictions on the gold cards ( Downtown is $100 per person at the top restaurants, and Sam's Town was $100 per day per person total). Getting rid of the gold card offers is just a way for the casino to make more money. If you use a host they can still authorize Gold cards.

Same for me, Scot- as out/towner, So Cal mkt.

Lowly Sapphire, but offers have dried up from up to 3 free (Su-Fri) to 2 free Su-Th, to now on select dates, and if 500 pts earned during stay, 1 free (have to pay resort fees on the other night).

Until they finish financing their Aliante/Cannery projects (my guess as part of this) or offer better, I’m laying low (i.e - not playing as much ) anymore.
