What is everyone getting in bounceback cash at Isle of Capri and
Harrahs? And what is your play to get that?
I've just hit Diamond status this year at Harrahs (so $12K a month)
and am getting four $10 a month.
My play at Isle of Capri is only about $5K a month and I'm getting
eight times $12 a month.
So Isle is the easy winner in that cash. Isle doesn't give me
anything in comps. I've played about $40K this year and all that
shows is available is a lunch buffet (can that be right?). For
Harrahs I have about 27,000 points (basically a penny a point).
I prefer the cash, obviously, but still like Harrahs better.
I'd love to hear everyone elses info and preferences.
Bounceback
We don't visit Capri very often and Agrosy not at all (except for free buffet coupons once in a great while). Most of our play is with Harrah's and Ameristar. Ameristar wins the comp competition hands down starting with the fact they give the same points for VP as they do for slots. I can't tell you our coin-in play at either casino but we both are Diamond players at Harrah's and Lucky Lucy is Star Club (same as Diamond) at Ameristar. We get $15 coupons each per week at Harrah's and $10 (me) and $25 (her) per week at Ameristar.
Cashback at Harrah's sucks! We get about $15 or $20 each per month (or less). By contrast we get $50 to $70 each at Ameristar, sometimes more, and can collect it anytime we want. We cannot consume all the food comps we get at Ameristar and often go by Arthur Bryant's for takeout just to use up all our comps. Cashback and comps are separate so one does not affect the other. Also Ameristar serves free lunch and dinner in the Star Club -- Harrah's Diamond Club doesn't open until 3:00 PM.
So why do we even go to Harrah's at all? They have the best buffet of any casino in town (my opinion); they have some decent VP machines including 9/6 JoB and AA (Ameristar's AA is short pay); we love the comp system where we can use them at any Harrah's property when we travel (also the Diamond Club); we get lots of cheesy gifts and sometimes some really good ones; great promotions once in a while like the 7X point coupons we got this month; and once in a while we actually win some money in their give-away promotions.
Ameristar's machines are not so good, almost nothing in single line 25 cent and $1. They have full pay in 5-play (JoB, Bonus, and NSUD) but takes a pretty good bankroll to stay in those games, Pick'em in .25 and $1, and JoB in 5 cent 10-play. That's about it. The 25 cent Pick'em are almost always full as they also have Keno and some other junk VP games.
So we will continue to visit both casinos and collect what we can from each. It's fun!

Harrahs bases their BB on trip average. The higher your trip average,
the higher your cash BB coupons. They'll never admit this, since they
claim their new TR system that was rolled out in June of '03
eliminated trip averages. Hogwash. I know it to be a fact at KC, STL
and the Tunica properties that the higher the daily average, the
higher the cash BB.
Another factor in Harrahs BB (at least here in STL) is whether or not
you're an active player. Allow your account to go 'dormant' for a
couple months (at least) and you'll suddenly start getting "We miss
you" letters, which will contain much larger than normal BB offers.
Here in STL, they were sending out enormous BB coupons to players who
suddenly stopped playing (when they yanked AA last Fall).
We haven't played at Isle of Capri much this year. That used to be our
main casino. In fact, we probable have only played there five or six
times this year. I also am getting eight times $12 for the month of
September. They have also sent me two coupons for $40 each. Comps at
Isle expire after a period of time ( I think 30 days but could be
longer). That could explain your lack of comps.
Harrahs bounce back cash seems to be all over the place. We just got it
yesterday for September. We both got $25.00 this time. Last month I
had $20.00, the month before $25.00. We are also both Diamond. We have
also found that if we do not play there much for awhile the mailings get
better.
Ameristar is the best casino for comps in my opinion. We are both Star
Club which is harder to get than Diamond at Harrahs. The choices of
machines are not as good. Lately we have both been playing some 100
play pennies (9/6 jacks) or 5 cent 10 play. We get $25 coupons there
each month along with a free room night and a coupon good for any
restaurant (used to be $25 but last two months it has been $20).
We will likely continue to play Harrahs and Ameristar. We have a
difficult time getting points at Isle. Their machines seem to
accumulate at different rates for different machines even playing the
same denomination.

Thanks for the info on this; I hadn't heard that before. I don't
really understand why they would do that for locals, but there's a
lot casinos do that I could never comprehend. Hmph. That's a real
bummer. I like to keep my visits under two hours because: (1) I play
with the fewest errors; (2) It doesn't occupy an entire day. As a
result, I go more often, but play for shorter times. I guess they're
making me pay for that. I may have to adjust that a bit and see what
kind of BB I get if I play just once a week at four hour hits. If
that means I can get an extra $40 a month, it would be worth it.
Thanks again.
Please report back.
I should not have been as definitive in my last post. I know it is a
fact that daily average is used to determine BB for me at KC and
Tunica (I live in STL). It is very possible that total monthly coinin
is still the main criteria for the amount of BB locals receive.

We had a great run yesterday at Ameristar. I started with a RF on a
25 cent progressive ($1300) and Lucky Lucy completed the day with a SF
and Quads on a $1 Pick'Em. More than made up for the beating we took
earlier in the week.
We rarely both have a good days at the same time (but often both have
loosing days) so this one was especially sweet.
