Bossier City Horseshoe changes

Wife and I just returned from a trip to Horseshoe in Bossier City and were very disappointed. After driving about 400 miles (one-way), we were frustrated to find that the 50 play and 100 play machines had been downgraded. The 50 plays still have Bonus Poker Deluxe, but at a 98.49% play, while the 100 plays machine are well below that. The other previously playable games on those machines have also been seriously downgraded. Fortunately, the triple play (quarter) machines on second floor with 9/6 JoB are still there, but I wonder for how long. We ended up playing the 98.49 BPD and triple play J0B. But if you aren’t hitting on the triple play JoB, the low-roller can really suffer.

While there, a suit came around and visited my wife while she played. I was not around, so I’m just relaying what my wife said. The suit asked her how she liked the changes, and my wife was quite frank in expressing her frustration. The suit then went on to say that they were considering returning all machines to previous levels. Let’s hope there is some truth to this.

So, we do not plan a return trip unless the machines are restored to previous pay schedules. If anyone in the area will check periodically and report any changes, I would be grateful.

The S/BC area has become a video poker wasteland during the last two years, especially for the low roller. I miss the days when NSUD and 9/6 JoB were available at Louisiana Downs and other casinos (at quarter level). We’ve been able to bounce around and find some decent play over the years, but our run seems to be about over.

Regards,
Keith

Keith, Hi!

If you had read past message you would not have been surprised at the poor state of the Horseshoe. Shreveport is indeed a wasteland…good gamble wise. Other than 9/6 JB at $1 ( which ain’t that good even) and some full pay TDB at $1…I’d not go at all. I live 75 miles from there and if not for a fun trip now and again (how much fun is it to lose $2K…not that much) I don’t recommend it at all. I can check for you if you would let me know when you want a survey done…otherwise we won’t go near the place till late summer…if then?

James

Thanks. We have no trips planned there for a long time, so no need to check. I’m just hoping when someone goes and there are changes, they will update the database.

I had checked VPFree just before we left home and they did not reflect these latest changes, although they did indicate a couple of other changes. In fact, an acquaintance we ran into there said that they had just changed the day we arrived, so just bad timing, I suppose.

Thanks for the info.

Those 100 and 50 plays on the first deck have been reduced for many years now. I know I posted a report on them… don’t remember the date. Way back before the Margaritaville was planed and built. We ues to go to the HS. Must have been before 2007??
Not sure what your friend was refering to.

I played those 50 and 100 plays as recently as November, and the Bonus Poker Deluxe was 99.64% and the Bonus Deuces Wild was 99.45% at that time. They were packed and were the most popular VP games in the place. It was a ghost town when I was there last week.
