Booze & gambling always good in slack times.

So many believe bad times cause less gambling. I'm not so sure
that's on the money. As I remember it, the bookies and bars always
did better when people worked less. The back room gambling joints
also were busy during bad times.

I am surprised no one even considers the fact that AC and Vegas
casinos have tightened up all the games. In addition, casino fights
bad times by cutting promo $$ sent to the customer. We hear many
folks right here express opinion that the casino is now educated.
These players think it's good business by casino to raise the price
of gambling by cutting promotion $$. 'Skin the player fast and send
him home', seems to be the norm.

I am one person who has decided that a .1% cb with the comp account
BS and smaller bounce back coupons is not worth making as many trips
to AC or Vegas as in the past. With 2 hr airport wait and 1 hr.
drive to airport and a 3-4 hr flight to Vegas I limit my trips and
travel as a tourist. In the old days of .6% cb gambling was more
fun to me. The casinos have their wish; they made a tourist out of
me. The icing on the cake, I'll play just enough to get comp rooms
and meals. Now I even wear tourist shirts. I gotta get a fanny
pack.

Same with AC. It's a 5hr drive for me. So I can't cherry pick deals.
Next week I'll be in AC. My daughter and grandkids will be with my
wife and I. I will not play one dime more than I need to get the
comps I want. I will swim, ride bikes and take advantage of
entertainment, food and free suite. I might even go to the mall or
ride down to Lucy The Elephant. I haven't been to Margate for 20
yrs. Cheer up AC, you got a new tourist

I totaly agree with the OP. I think Vegas has gotten worse and
worse over the years. Terrible service, bad paytables and bad live
games. I have been sayin gthis for the past few years. Corprate
casions want to seperate he player from hios money as quick as
possible.

One side note to this. I have seen a handful of people in the
stations cut off from drinks, but still allowed to gamble.

Cutting someone off from drinking is a significant public safety and
liability issue. Allowing a drunk to gamble is neither.

On the lighter side, in AC I was sitting at a machine next to a casion
friend. You know, one of those folks you know because she like you
plays a lot. Any way, she's a big player and also a good drinker. She
leans over to me and asks me to order her a drink while she goes to
bathroom. She gives me tip $$ and takes off. Drink comes and she comes
back. I hand her the drink and waitress appears with security. They
scold me to no end. She's not allowed to order drinks as she had too
many etc. The icing on the cake; she walked next door to another
place got a couple drinks and came back.

Turns out this lady was allowed to drink till tap had to be shut off.
She was a heavy player and was allowed to play; even drunk. She
carried enough large money that she was assigned a security person to
watch her for safety.

Cheers
