Booking offer and not staying

It seems a lot of my old casinos want me back. I received a really good offer from Venetian and I have not played there for years,I have also received offers from Golden Nugget and others. I think someone on here mentioned that they frequently book rooms and never set foot in the room. Are there any consequences to that? Could they come back and charge you? I am not really concerned about ruining future offers at these places. Venetian I would be most concerned about due to the fine print- offer is expressly conditioned upon player maintaining historical level of play. I wonder if I just played my freeplay through if they would charge me for the room.

I routinely do this, although I usually make some effort to go up to the room and "mess it up" a bit to so it looks like it was occupied. To date, I have not had a casino charge my credit card for a comp'd room. If this ever does happen, I have the option to dispute the charge with my bank.

If you do this, it's a good idea to either formally check out early or to go up, remove the "do not disturb" sign, and leave the room key in your room the night before you are scheduled to check out. If your host sent a gift basket to your room, it might look strange for this to be left untouched when they clean your room.

Don't tell them you're checking out early. Many casinos will penalize you for this. Mess the room up a bit, leave the sign on the door and housekeeping will check you out automatically on the scheduled date.

We used to book a LOT of room offers we never used. If the only way to get the offer is to book the room, we would do.

My wife also would always go and 'mess up the room' to make it look lived in. I thought this was silly and a waste of cleaning time ( this is back when they changed sheets every day). So, one time she listened to me and didn't do anything to a room at NYNY. It turned out that we needed the room for the last night and went to check in and our room keys didn't work. NYNY checked us out because they didn't see any activity in the room.

I was pretty upset. If I book a room, I should be able to do with it what I want. They shouldn't get to decide how I use a room. By then we were on the downside of our NYNY relationship so it didn't matter too much.

BTW, I have never had a casino penalize us for checking out early, and we have done that a lot of times as well.

Yes the early check out fee is new and all the major chains are jumping on the bandwagon. Expect the same with the casino hotels soon. Just a another source of revenue for them similar to the airlines.
