Bonus Triple Play

Does anyone know of a strategy or analysis for Bonus Triple Play? It's
the game that's like short-pay 3-play JOB, but if you get dealt 2-
pair, on the next hand you get 6-play for the price of 3.

Big thanks. They've got it here at Atlantis Reno (I'm here through
tomorrow), & I'm curious if it's playable.

Stuart

Stu; I don't know where the calculations are that I did, when I first saw it at Caesar's Palace, but it turned out it wasn't playable. Not even close.

what's the base return?
cycle for dealt hands 2pair or greater is 2598960/198180=13.11
take base return and multiply by (13.11+1)/13.11=1.076 to get net
return after bonus

The game is actually called "Bonus Hand Triple Play." The version
here at Atlantis Reno is JOB with trips shorted to 2x. Perhaps it's
a better payoff than the version that Skip found at Caesars & found
unplayable?

Because... trips occur roughly 1 in 13 hands also, so it looks like
close to a wash. That is, trips contribute 22.33% to your total JOB
return. Shorting trips to 2x should therefore cost 7.44%.
nightoftheiguana's calculations seem to show that the "bonus" is
worth 7.6%, right? That'd mean that this game would return just
slightly better than FPJB, using regular JOB strategy. Maybe the
shorted trips would dictate a different strategy that could improve
it further?

Have I understood the math correctly?

Stuart

Thatt 7.6% number jogs my memory. The game was might not have been that bad, but not good enough, wiht JB available on STP and MS. Unfortunatly I can't find the note I posted to VPMAIL about it.
The best at CP was either 9/7DB (with a base return of 91.9%) or 9/6 DDB (with a base return of 91.5%). I'm pretty sure it was the latter.

That's a good way to estimate it.

It would be 7.6% if the base game was even (100%). To get a more
accurate number, multiply the base return by 1.076

That'd mean that this game would return just
slightly better than FPJB, using regular JOB strategy. Maybe the
shorted trips would dictate a different strategy that could improve
it further?

There are some strategy changes, according to VPSM: QJTs and KQJs
beats a high pair, 4 straight open with 4 to 1 high cards beats QJ9s
and JT9s which beat a low pair, 4 straight inside beats redraw.
According to:
http://wizardofodds.com/videopoker/analyzer/CindyProg.html
perfect play yields 92.11%, multiplying by 1.076 yields 99.11%
