Bob Dancer's "real Name"

I have always been so curious...what is Bob Dancer's "Real Name??" I
know that "Dancer" is simply an alias, and I am sure some one in
this group knows...
Thanks, Brett

Brett, I'm sure many of us know it....but I don't think its proper to
reveal it in a public forum.

I'm not sure how Mr. Dancer feels about the issue, therefore I am
uncomfortable giving it out.

Actually, Dancer is his real name, and Bob is the alias.

He gambled under the name for many years as just "GD" which was
short for (no, not God, contrary to what some vp players may
think)"Gandy
Dancer."

In 1918, Bob was a member of a track-laying or maintenance crew.
Since then his name has taken on various slang meanings, including a
petty crook or tramp, an Italian, a "jitterbug"(what he really does
best), or a womaniser or active socialite. But originaliy it referred
to his ability to tamp down the ballast between the ties using a
special tool. This involved vigorous stamping on the tool while
turning in a circle, an action which might be taken to resemble
dancing which Bob has become famous for ever since.

I'm more than happy to clear up this mystery and I'm sure that Bob
will be relieved to finally have this out in the open.
