I would play it exactly as you would with no changes whatsoever. The only thing I don't understand is the reasoning for all the calculations, unless of course it is for the purpose of teaching people the proper methodology in this column.I assume that like myself in reality you would have found that the conclusion that you came to is obvious, but it may not be to everybody. It's a good example of the type of stuff you want to think out before you actually start playing, and there are lots of "what-ifs" that come out of it. For example, Bob just waved off DDB, but if it turns out DDB+coupon has a higher EV than DB+coupon, wouldn't you play DDB instead? And what if you hit quad 4's on the very first hand, but no kicker? You have the whole month left, would you keep playing hoping the next quad 4's come with a kicker? And, the situation changes dramatically depending on if it's the first of the month or there's say one hour left on the coupon. Bob just said he'd play till it hit, but there's always a chance it won't hit, granted that chance is small if say you're willing to play round the clock everyday until it hits. But say you're only willing to play on weekends? And, a min-cost strategy might work here to minimize the cost of the coupon, but probably not much of a difference.

Is there a website that has/calculates the variance for different vp games? Specifically, I'm wanting to compare the variances of 10 handed bonus poker in ultimate x and double super times pay.
