Bob wrote, quoting Ed I think: "Your results in any session are pure noise. There is no information there."

Below N0 (variance/edge^2 hands) noise (or luck) is dominant. Of course as Ed suggests, you should record these noisy results, and add them up, eventually the signal begins to come through the noise. Over N0 the signal becomes dominant. The value of the signal is important, because you may have made some faulty assumptions, such as assuming you play computer perfect GTO at all times under all conditions. Typically there are some "leaks", the "unknown unknowns" if you will, and if you keep careful records, this will begin to be expressed in the signal that begins to appear after N0. You can also use this signal to make Bayesian adjustments. And last but not least, the government requires you to make an accounting at the end of each year and does not allow loss carry forward for gambling, so an annual accounting loss generates an additional loss that needs to be accounted for in your net edge.
