I think Bob is missing a point. If the Casino's system is screwing up small amounts it could also screw up large amounts. If you bring it to the attention of the casino they will then know that there is a problem and hopefully will fix it. As far as it being worth doing, that is a personal value. Bob doesn't think that it is worth his time and that is a fair assessment. Paul obviously thinks that it is worth his time, and if the time he used getting his problem resolved would have been used for a profitable venture then he would have been wrong, but if the time he used would have been spent pondering his navel, then he would not have been wasting his time, and I'm sure he got a lot of mental satisfaction by getting the problem resolved.
I agree with all of the other points in the article about keeping your play a little loose in order to disguise yourself from purges.

Regards
A.P.

Years ago, I was methodically playing exactly $3000 per week at the
Tuscany to maintain a mailer that was providing me with $40 per week
in free play, for starters. I didn't get $11 in points that I had
earned. I complained several times until I talked to a host. She
remarked at how methodically I was playing and I never got another
mailer. I never got the $11, either. I'm skeptical, though, at how
much extra it would take to not end up in the same category. I doubt
if I had played $3100 some weeks, $3020 other weeks, etc., it would
have made much difference.

I think you're right. A small variance in your play is easy to spot. You have to look at it from the casino's perspective. The casino wants to make a profit. If you want to get all the goodies from the casino you have to make them think that you're just another player, not a wiseguy. You can't play the best machines all of the time, and you should play on days without promotions, just play more on days with promotions.

It's debatable exactly what an "ADVANTAGE GAMBLER" is, but it's probably fair to say that many casinos think that gamblers who gamble the exact coin-in every time (it shows you know how to count?) or gamble just the minimum required for promotions (it shows you are a frugal gambler?) are advantage gamblers.

Advantage gambling - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advantage_gambling Advantage gambling, or advantage play, refers to legal methods, in contrast to cheating in casinos, used to gain an advantage while gambling. The term usually refers to house-banked games, but can also refer to games played against other players, such as ...
