Bob nailed this in my opinion. Although my wife and I don't play for the same stakes as he does having access to interest free loans is very attractive to us. We have one credit card and it gets paid in full automatically every month We have used casino credit for 18 years for the same reasons Bob sets out. Two additional points: when we hit RF at our level, with outstanding marker(s) the casino gets paid, no questions asked. Second, I am the member of our team with discipline. My wife, who plays longer, harder and more successfully than I do, has never and will never have a line of credit at a casino. She came close once at Bellagio, but with the LOC approved, the papers prepared, she said no, I don't want direct access to this kind of money.
In short , if you are financially disciplined and pay your debts in a responsible manner, a lie of credit is appropriate

I have to completely agree with this article. If you can handle it,a line of credit is very convenient.

Spot on, and very logical. Based on the mathematics, I should have opened a credit line years ago. But I deliberately did not, based on entirely different reasons.

Looking at this from a mental/emotional "lens", it just seemed like a no-win for me, strictly from an enjoyment perspective. If I have a losing session or trip, I only want to experience the loss one time. Having to pay off a marker later would just feel like another loss. Conversely, when I win, I want to enjoy that - not have to hand it back over to the cage.

I realize that this aspect has no strategic or financial relevance....just a different facet for each individual to consider when deciding whether a credit line is right for them.

You don't have to pay off the markers later, you can pay them off before you leave the casino. That's what I always do. If I'm a winner I pay them in cash, if I'm a loser I write them a check. I realize that this may not be the best way of taking advantage of the credit line, but I think it's the best way of handling the situation.

Yeah, it's the same "feel" for me though. Lose at the machines, then a sad walk to the cage  Not sure why the walk to GET money impacts me less. Perhaps because I still have hope of turning things around?
