Still trying to figure out what Dancer ever did to Singer. Oh well. Dancer's column serves as a warning to others who are perhaps more naive.

My reasoning was that this guy will likely attempt to con other players as well. The best way to notify other players about this guy is to use "professional forums."

I actually posted it on the LVA website, not here. However, I obviously knew the article was likely to be posted here. And I believe that players here need to be warned about cheats.

Somebody sent me a link about the same guy. http://porsche356registry.org/356talk/1/24834.html I would think there are players here who would appreciate the warning about him.
Whether you find it disgraceful or not.
Bob

Why not a real world example how a top pro got conned?
It's a good lesson for everyone.

I'm kinda curious why he even bothered to send you $175. Why not just stiff you for that too?

Is it possible that instead of being a slick con man he is really just a sick pathetic gambling f--k? And a meth head to boot?

I wonder if you could have continued to squeeze him dollar-by-dollar for the $2200 and eventually got your money, by the 2016 elections.

Put yourself in his mind, if possible. Why did he give you $175?

I seem to be more tired than I realize ... Where's Bartop's reference to $175/$2200 sourced from? (I don't see it in pt 1 of the LVA column, or in Dancer's post here ...)

There are probably a half dozen other reasons but now he is the victim as he would have paid and he is now twice victim. When I heard the story I did think to myself that the extra W2g probably got the guy thinking there were more and that Bob was ripping him off with more not put into the pot.

Got it.

So, still sleep deprived (and now a little poorer than when I last wrote ... FWIW, I'm enjoying a multi-day Reno/Tahoe trip in advance of the 7* cruise out of NYC Sunday).

Curiosity got the better of me, and I pulled up the podcast. I'm more confused than before ...

Now, I get that if you're Bob Dancer and have access to a number of "outlets", that someone who screws him over should expect the worst. More power to him.

But I'm sure the details will be clearer after some good sleep ... Cuz who would toodle over to a casino for a sign-up bonus without first making a run back to cash out that $2500 ticket (much less, hand it over to a first time acquaintance, with a measily $300 stake in it, to make good on it via the mail)?

Hey, I'm sure you had to be there to appreciate the circumstances. But, frankly, I thought I was the only one both sufficiently naive and occasionally addle-headed to stumble into something like this.

-- Then there's his 2-part blog, the title of which translates as "JWT is a toad". The details on Parx are interesting (among other things, I hadn't realized the play req for the 1st time visit $1k had jumped astronomically since Bev and I cleaned up on it a couple years back).

But the entire time I was reading, I was scratching my head as to why all the detail
was germane to the subject. All I can say is if I were still local to Philly and regularly playing Parx promos, I'd question why Bob was taking a big piss in my pond (aside from the obvious "for the edification of others")

I just know a little sleep will clear this up for me ...

Well, I should first clarify that my lack of sleep isn't a consequence of slaving at the machines, although I do average a full 8 hours on my "play days". Out of a 6 night trip, I'm playing on 3 days, each alternated with a day of play/relaxation away from the casino.

Truth is, I came into travel a little sleep deficient. The trip was set up only a week in advance, when a good offer hit my mailbox that rounded up a very decent trip opportunity overall. (I've been biting at the bit to return again this summer. Suffice it to say that Lake Tahoe is a "to die for" visit. But, over time, I've become incredibly enchanted by the hospitality in Reno -- generally speaking, I find a comfort level unmatched elsewhere.)

However, with the 7* Signature cruise out of NYC coming immediately on the heels of this trip, I had to jump through hoops this last week to make e erything feasible.

Bottom line, I made my flight out of Atlanta Sunday am, bleary-eyed on just 3 hrs sleep. Fortunately, the airline came through with a FC upgrade ... I caught some quality shut-eye on the trip west.

···

-------------

So I'll abbreviate a bit and touch briefly on the trip thus far, and close with the high point (last night).

The play's been very satisfying (2 days thus far, one at Harrah's LT, one at JANugget) No big hits. Been playing $1 single line and TP Jb, and 20-lines of $.25 bp.

The bp was frustrating -- didn't see the dealt hands necessary to keep the play strong
(no dealt quads, much less FH's), and ended deficit 1 RF (vs "expectation"). However, the Jb play (which garnered the lion's share of my coin, out of my bp frustration), ended with a negligible loss (although an early additional $1400 loss on the TP in my first 40 minutes of play did put me on the edge of my seat

When the dust settled on play last night, once promo credits were netted, I was down less than 1% of my trip coin-in ... Well positioned for my last day of trip play at Harrah's-Reno.

------

The weather's been beautiful (what else is new? ;). Surprised by a touch of humidity in the air when I arrived (think the paper reported 0.2 in of rain Sat ... Or was that 0.02 in? ;). Enjoyed some great walking around the Lake; didn't soak up as much sun as I preferred to regain a pre-tan in advance of the cruise ... Had a tendency to sleep in and play late.

But I haven't missed out on the opportunity to spoil myself rotten on the dining front ...

The Sage Steakhouse at Harvey's LT served up a phenomenal crusted swordfish on Sunday, which I enjoyed with an excellent half bottle of Cakebread Chardonnay.

At JANugget's Steakhouse last night, I delighted in a beautifully prepared bone-in ribeye (medium rare) which I accompanied with one of the finest wine list gems I've encountered to date: a half bottle of 2006 Patz &Hall Pinot Noir.

It listed for $40, which to some may seem a bit pricey, but with a retail of $30-$35, this would typically be featured on a wine list at twice the price.

This wasn't your typical young, slightly pale Pinot quaff that makes good sipping while you enjoy a sunset ... This bad boy has attitude and complexity that will stand its ground against most any steak :). I was in heaven! (Someone at JAN was truly inspired to have cellered this selection)

Were I not restricting myself to carry-on this trip, given the good price and likely difficult find back home, I would have been othrwise tempted to drain some comps to bring a few bottles back home!

Is that where he booked last weeks GWAE guest? That roulette crew sounds like it was the same group. I don't remember them talking about the Revel which is strange for an easst coast group not to have been in unless they were still working it.

Don't mess with Bob. LOL! I'm looking forward to part 2. My experience with gamblers who rip off other gamblers is you just don't do it. It violates a strict honor code in gambling. The news travels fast through the hustler's grapevine on those that transgress. So that we all know not to get ourselves trapped up by the guy. But this guy Toll is just really dumb. He took a shot at a gambler who has one of the biggest bully pulpits (radio show, gambling columns, forums) in all of professional gambling.

This is a Doyle Brunson story. When asked about being ripped off by fellow gamblers his response was like "I've been suckered out of a hell of a lot more money by businessmen in suit and ties than by my fellow gamblers."
