Bob Dancer's LV Advisor Column - 19 APR 2011

---SNIP---

Also, I had to chuckle when I read Bob was waiting for the Senior drawing. I find it hard to believe he stands around waiting for the $1000 drawing.

---SNIP---

Bob has fessed-up before about doing low-payoff drawings. One of my favorite BD Casingaming.com columns (August 22, 2006) is called "Busted".

I miss the Harrahs-L and River Palms casinos...there were VP plays both for Bob and low-rollers like me. Nothing to play now.

Seriously Joel? Because YOU had a discussion with him on a play and he answered you impacts how we should view THIS story?

No offense, but I could care less whether he helped you or tripped you on the way out. It has nothing to do with the scenario in the article. In fact, it's actually showing he is a hypocrite. For one person he attempts to charge for advice, and to you he gives free advice.

Unbelievable. In my opinion Bob has done more to educate people on the strategy
of VP than anyone else over the last 10-20 years. (followed by Jean) He was
very gracious the first few times he was asked for advise which wasn't followed.
I met Bob once in New Orleans. I was playing NSUD which I am not perfect at
since there are not playable deuces back east and I play it rarely. I asked him
for his advise on a hand and he was very gracious. He also suggested that if I
don't know perfect play for NSUD that I play a game that I can play perfectly. A
friend he was with offered to loan me her strategy chart. What more could you
want?

Wow! This article turned my stomach! I can't believe the elitist obnoxious
comments from Bob! This is Bob's side of the story, and even reading that, I
think it was Bob that crossed the line! Suggesting to someone that he pay $300
to Bob for scouting machines? Is this guy for real? That's nuts! He is lucky
the guy didn't get up and punch him in the face for that obnoxious comment! (If
he did, maybe someone would have paid him $300 for the punch  )

First let me say thank you for interjecting a Con-Bob statement. I was beginning to worry the thread was becoming too overwhelmingly positive.

But I think you are confusing rude with inexperienced. Neither Bob nor myself have much radio experience and I even caught myself cutting off a couple of guests in our early interviews. Though I've been called a lot of things in my day, rude really isn't one of them. I was just too focused on getting everything in and the quickly evaporating time constraints. It's really easy to do.

When I noticed our failings I brought it up to Bob and he immediately agreed we needed to work on it together, and we've been trying to do better since.

If you hear us do ANYTHING on-air that you think could use improvement, please don't hold your counsel. We need your insight to improve...and at least speaking for myself, I love constructive criticism, as long as it is constructive and some good comes out of it.

My Mother always used to say, "If only god the gift would give us, to see ourselves as others see us."

It's not an easy thing to do! Keep the comments coming.

Oh and "Don't cut off your guests". Got it...check.

I have to agree with caribou321. A few times I have listen to
the radio show, Bob will cut a guest off and end interview. Yes, I know there are time restraints and commercials have to be run but rude is rude. Also, I had to chuckle when I read Bob was waiting for the Senior drawing. I find it hard to believe he stands around waiting for the $1000 drawing. (I am sure he got paid more than that for mentioning M in his article.)

. But what I'll never understand is why someone needs to dispute what the
experts in a field suggest and then argue about it.

Why would anyone ask an expert for advise if they have no plans to heed such
advise?

Because what they are looking for is the expert's concurrence with their thought
process, not for something that would run counter to their preconceived notion.
If the expert agrees with them, that shows just how smart they are. If the
expert disagrees with them, that OBVIOUSLY shows just how ill-informed the
"expert" is.

Very insightful point. I believe this is similar to "The No True Scotsman" fallacy.

You are dragging out a story from 2006, you got to be kidding me?
Maybe then, but not now, I don't buy it.

Bob was actually pretty cool with Pete. My answer would have been something like "Git yer Mama to scout the casino!!" I'm not real big on taking orders from strangers.
