I'm 63 and had lazik when it was first introduced after RK (using a small knife) in 1995. My problem was I was always in airports and had to keep putting the glasses on in order to see the flight boards. I could see up close perfectly before the surgery. Afterwards and to this day (and I was told this prior) my distance vision is near perfect, and I need glasses to read. I considred the trade-off worthwhile. BTW, back then it was $4000/eye, but I got the procedure in just before my work insurance stopped covering it 100%.

There have been great improvements since 2005 when I was rejected for Lasik. On my recent visit, I was told I was now a candidate for it. I've also been wearing glasses for 40 plus years.
