I may have given Bob the basic idea for including "not-held" strategy elements into his strategies, but he's taking the basic idea to the next level and adapting it for use in our modern VP world.

This is exactly the sort of thing I was hoping he'd do with all the TTT (Team Training Techniques). Taking the best of the old (largely my Mother's ideas) and combing it with the best of the new.

It makes me very happy to see the dust blow off my family legacy and reused in such a helpful and informative manner for the next generation.

Please note that what Bob is suggesting in his article is not merely a rehash of the Team's training method, it is a significant improvement.

That "Not Held" is a flickering light bulb now turned-on in my head, a novel idea, for teaching TTT. But Top-Down versus Bottom-Up could be a clue about the non-conventinal nomanclutre that you use.

I cringe, like most of us, when I see 6/9 for Jacks or Better (JoB) or 5/9 for Deuces Wild (FPDW). You just look at the bottoms first, then the tops.

OBTW, Bob's article still has an "F" where a "T" should be, IMO.

Quoting:

"Frank's strategy (using somewhat different, albeit comparable notation to what I use) lists SF4 1i 2h on his chart --- but without the comment 'NEVER HELD.'"

BS

"Bottoms Up" is a reference to how one reads Team created strategies, which were more for training and speed of memorization than the types of strategies Bob produces, which are intended for in-field use.

I've posted an excerpt from my book entitled "Bottoms Up" to explain it in more depth. Go to the April 14th notes section at:

https://www.progressivevp.com/radio_show.php

It should explain everything. They area very different systems and intended for different things.

Just received an offer from Harrah's St. Louis -- free airfare plus up to five nights plus a "free cruise" certificate on Norwegian good until June 2012.

Would appreciate any feedback on how good this offer is...how nice is harrah's St. Louis? How easy is it to use the cruise certificate, etc. -- we've never cruised before, so any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

I like St. Louis. I live in the Chicago suburbs and I think it is a nice getaway
city. You might think that Harrahs is in the heart of St. Louis on the
Mississippi River, but it is on the Missouri River in the northwest suburbs. So
if you fly in and want to leave the casino you will need to rent a car. The
rooms are fine, there is decent VP, they have smoking/non-smoking sections, they
are friendly and I like that they will comp you meals if you ask at the Total
Rewards desk. The Diamond lounge is different than most. You can order
sandwiches or they have a meal selected for the day. You have to pay for drinks.
Not as nice as AC but better than most.

I recommend going to the free and spectacular zoo (you pay to park in the
adjacent parking lot, but if you can walk, there is parking on the streets in
the area), taking in a baseball game, checking out the Jefferson National
Expansion Memorial (the arch) and go on a free Budweiser Brewery Tour.

One more little tip for Diamond players...I found out that you can sometimes get
a newspaper either from the VIP check-in desk or like St. Louis, if you ask the
bell desk, they will deliver one to your room for free. Seven Stars are
automatic, Diamonds just need to ask.

They also have dueling pianos on weekends which you can watch from the Diamond
Lounge.

I hope you go and have some luck...and remember..it gets very hot and humid in
the summer.

I would support the other individual who replied. I stopped there on a driving trip last year and had nothing but an excellent experience. My local host set me up with a host there (I cannot remember the name but I have it at home - will send it later)and he put us in a great suite. All personnel in the property were very cordial and outgoing. Very good Italian restaurant there called Charlie Gitto's. We charged everything to the room (dinner for four) and everything was comped (no RC's). Their Diamond lounge is quite unique. The charge for drinks is state law.

Charge for drinks is minimal.$1 for beer(Corona), $2 for cocktails(margarita). If you charge them to your room they are free.

Well this is the line Harrahs like to use....but Ameristar comps drinks all day/evening long in their Star Club.

And they're in Missouri too.
