Actually, the REAL question is why the first one? Did Bob bribe Curtis
to publish the book by getting him a 1-year VIP membership at
Spearmint Rhino LV?

I have nothing against pornography, sex or video poker, it's just that
I think these are things that should be compartmentalized.

Anthony Curtis published neither book. They are both self published.

The reason of "why" is that little has been written about what goes on
in the life of successful video poker players. A novel allows much
fuller character development than 800-word articles.

Readers on this list will find considerable gambling savvy in the novels
--- and will learn something relevant to gambling they didn't know
before. Plus, it's a fun way to learn!

My bad...I know HP distributed it, I diidn't realize they didn't
publish it-I assumed they did. One of Curtis' friends told me he did
publish it..pays to look at the binding, I s'pose.

There is no doubting your acumen as a technical writer and teacher. A
novelist is a different skill set altogether.

Thank you for the first sentence. Compliments of any sort directed
towards me have been scarce around here recently.

Insofar as the different skill set being required for being a novelist,
you are 100% correct. It was hard work, and I am quite pleased with the
finished product. I welcome reviews of the book on this site.

To beome a novelist required a LOT of extra study (writing classes and
reading of books on writing), and considerable back and forth with my
editor, Deke Castleman --- who also edits most of the books Anthony
Curtis publishes, including those by Jean. For the most part my
technical writing these days is lightly edited, if at all. I used to
co-write with Liam W. Daily and we'd pass things back and forth before
publication, but he has given up all interest in video poker writing ---
likely forever.
