Been reading this thread with some interest and great amusement. I'm
probably in the classification of "BD Flea" since I don't bang away at VP with
the intent of making oodles of profit although I can play quite a few games
damn near letter perfect. I am usually in the house for another game,
which has been much more profitable than VP ever would be. There is a fair
amount of dead time in between sessions at a blackjack tournament and VP
offers the ability to get in & get out quickly, in addition to earning very
useful comps & having a decent chance of turning some profit.
Bob has been nothing but nice to me on a professional level, plus he and
Shirley have been good friends and excellent dinner companions on more than a
few occasions. I can see where those who make their income from VP play
might resent many of his activities, though. IMHO, he's been good for the
game in general because he's semi-educated many folks into becoming VP
addicts, yet most of those won't take the time to learn the strategies well
enough to be truly dangerous. They do learn enough to be choosy about pay
tables so they're not validating the casino's choices of putting in horrid
games by playing them. They know to choose the good games, and then play them
rather badly. This is a good thing for the rest of us!

One of the biggest names in the business, he built his bankroll in part
playing gas stations, taverns, etc...he kept several notebooks, separated by
location, etc. You'd be surprised how many 101% Joker triple plays he'd
find.
So, you put that kind of shoeleather into finding the spots, you deserve
the rewards you get. I don't understand why Bob would want to out someone
else's play, but that's kind of the guy he is...which what I suspect is going
on here. Which is also why Bob's fellow pros hate him passionately. There
are several unwritten rules about our business, and Bob violates a lot of
them.
