ADVANCE NOTICE: I am not attacking the messenger, but discussing the message.

Parts of the above article were unnecessary from my literary point of view as a writer and undeserved criticism from my personal point of view of decent human behavior. In my opinion the personal attack did not contribute to the subject being discussed.

Furthermore, I disagree with the premise that because someone refines a strategy or changes something after further research that this makes that person unreliable. Are we going to throw out all of Lenny Frome's work because some of the earlier parts were not as refined as later ones.

All of us writers have changed our minds down through the years about certain aspects of VP and corrected mistakes in our writings. It would be pig-headed for me to say that I haven't learned a lot during the 21 years I have been gambling. I do hope that my writings are more "accurate" now than they used to be.

There are many different levels of strategies and many different ways of presenting them. I'm sure Skip Hughes would agree that he has refined his strategy cards down through the years. We are always looking for new ways to make our information more helpful. I am too busy trying to make my writings easy to read and helpful to the biggest number of players without spending energy knocking down the work of other respected writers.

Well said Jean

Max

I agree wholeheartedly. It's unnecessary, gratuitous, and adds nothing of value to the (ostensible) point of the piece.

I was playing a new game recently on my trip to Vegas, one that
I had not played in a number of years and was rusty on. So my
approach was to practice on my computer software at home as much as
I could, and then back up my play with strategy charts in the
casino. Well I had to get new charts as my paper ones I had
collected for years were ruined on the drive home the previous trip
when I moved my backpack to the back seat and a water bottle leaked
and destroyed them. As I left on short notice I quickly gathered
some now ones.
While playing FPDW at Binions the guy next to me held A Q
suited. As there are two machines in this one location I usually
play he just happened to be on the faster one that I prefer. Well
of course he popped a Royal, then proceeded to stiff the slot tech,
which didn't brighten my mood one bit. So of course I ordered some
more Colorado Kool-Aid and had the winner tip the waitress (drinks
on the winner line) while encouraging a big tip. I even told him he
should have tipped the tech. But I digress here...
Well anyhow my strategy chart showed a redraw. Or in other
words he played a bad hold. While I did get deuces eight times that
trip, I went Royal less...I have been thinking about this a whole
lot. How many hours I played, because I switched to an unfamiliar
game did I not get Royals??? I must have at least played 80 hours. A
big percentage FPDW.
Since then I have been interested in new strategy cards... oh,
by the way I lost the ones I was using somehow??? ...so I have been
noticing the difference in the charts I see and that are available.
Bob Dancer did hit upon some good points in his article. I guess I
missed some things as I was just reading for content.
I did hear Jim Rome today on the radio... a San Diego talk
show host who has gone national in Sports Radio. The guy has never
done a bad interview... always a fabulous job. Imagine that??? I
just love his positive approach to life and his enthusiasm anyway.
Well anyhow..guess I am rambling...and thanks to Harry Porter for
all his great posts too. Don't think he would like California girls
though, I think he would change the Beach Boys lyric somehow to
reflect nature. We had a great beach day today finally. ... think
I will go again tomorrow...

Lets get some Royals...Beachstu

Do you really want to encourage me like that? I might give this group
a rest and let someone have the floor for a change  At any rate,
thanks ... my ego can always stand a nudge up.

You got the California thing right ... I'd have stopped with "the
midwest farmers' daughters". They tend to be a lot truer to "nature"
and nicer too.

I'm jealous of the beach day. We're headed to AC for the holiday
weekend and, to be truthful, it's not "where I wanna be" -- this stuff
is getting a little old lately. (Potential fodder for Rob over on
FREEvpFREE ...).

A casino offered up a "can't say no" offer -- a free Carribean cruise.
We're already booked next year on an offer Bev received from another
casino, so we're looking to book a second cabin for an old family
friend (of both families -- dating back 30 years -- to whom we owe much).

Don't get me wrong - we'll have a fine time this weekend. There's a
lot of fine friends to catch up with, we'll likely manage some time at
the pool, and gluttony will likely be only one of several deadly sins
in which we engage. (No Borgata Babes at our casino, but I'm still
right up there with Jimmy Carter on that lust thing.)

When I'm relaxing over a Sea Breeze this weekend, Stu, I'll be
thinking of you ...

Wow! I haven't seen that video since it happened.

Despite that incident, Rome is a great talk show host - I've been listening to his radio show for 12 years or so.

I don't even have to open this to know what it is. I'm just sorry Everett - Jim not Chrissy - didn't backhand and forehand Rome into next week. Because of that interview I just can't be a Rome fan. That, and I think he's a pompous ass.....(-;

Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Wait, that was a figure of speech, Jean.

At one time I thought that aliens were trying to contact me
through the machines and were telling me that they needed my money
to promote peace and brotherhood throughout the galaxy. Then I saw
and played "Little Green Men" slot machines and I was positive of it.
Now, of course, I've manured and I no longer believe in aliens or
people from outer space, except for maybe Woody Allen and Pee Wee
Herman.
